Full Job Description

Job Title: Tooling Supervisor

Starting Pay Rate: $70,000-$90,000
Schedule: Sunday-Thursday 11:00-7:00am, with mandatory overtime as needed
Reports To: Tool and Die Manager

Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Tooling Supervisor to lead our Tool Room operations. This role is responsible for supervising tooling leaders and toolmakers, coordinating maintenance and improvement activities, managing departmental resources, and ensuring tooling performance supports production requirements. The Tooling Supervisor will drive continuous improvement initiatives, maintain quality and tooling standards, and support the achievement of departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities:

Organize departmental priorities and assign work activities to tooling personnel to support production requirements
Supervise tooling leaders and toolmakers while providing coaching, training, and performance support
Manage and execute tooling maintenance plans, die improvement programs, and die protection initiatives
Monitor tooling performance indicators and implement programs to reduce downtime, scrap, and overtime while improving efficiency
Establish and maintain preventive maintenance routines for tooling and dies
Support new tooling projects, engineering changes, drawing reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives
Ensure compliance with tooling schedules, quality standards, and production priorities
Coordinate manpower planning and departmental resources to meet operational objectives
Lead 5S activities and maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work environment
Support implementation of QDC initiatives and tooling-related process improvements
Maintain compliance with Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), IATF, ISO, and customer requirements
Prepare for and support internal and external audits
Communicate effectively with production, engineering, quality, maintenance, and management teams to ensure operational success
Maintain accurate records, reports, and tooling documentation
Perform other duties as assigned

Shift is 8 hours. Overtime may be required based on production schedules, tooling requirements, and departmental needs. Employees receive two 10-minute breaks per shift and one 20-minute meal break. Employees get paid the entire time they are clocked in and do not clock out for breaks, if taken on campus.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED required
2–4 years of experience in tooling, manufacturing, maintenance, or a related field preferred
Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred
Certifications from accredited schools in computer systems are preferred
Strong knowledge of tooling interpretation and design, CNC equipment, GD&T, progressive and manual dies, and tooling maintenance practices
Strong organizational, analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and work independently
Strong decision-making and leadership abilities
Demonstrated commitment to customer service and teamwork
Highly motivated with strong attention to detail and enthusiasm for continuous improvement
Ability to learn and apply company quality, environmental, and safety systems

Physical Demands:

Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, reach, and use hands to handle tools, equipment, and materials
Ability to work in and around manufacturing equipment and tooling machinery
Ability to lift, push, pull, and move materials as required to support tooling operations
Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and respond to production demands
Must be able to safely operate and inspect tooling equipment and machinery

Work Environment:

Manufacturing and tool room environment with exposure to machinery, tooling equipment, and production operations
Exposure to moving mechanical parts, noise, vibration, and manufacturing conditions
Overtime may be required to support production schedules and tooling demands
Participation in plant quality, health, safety, security, and environmental programs is required
Must comply with all company policies, quality standards, environmental requirements, and safety procedures
