We're Looking for an Assisted Living Nurse Leader Who Knows What Great Looks Like.

At Sunflower Communities, we're looking for an experienced RN leader with a strong Assisted Living background to oversee clinical operations at Nagel Assisted Living in Waconia.

We want someone who can lead people, strengthen systems, maintain regulatory readiness, and raise the standard of clinical care across the community.

Know the Regulations. Own the Standards.

An excellent Assisted Living leader shouldn't have to scramble when a surveyor walks through the door.

Survey readiness should be the everyday standard.

You'll be responsible for maintaining a strong understanding of Minnesota Assisted Living requirements and applicable state regulations, translating those requirements into day-to-day clinical practices, and making sure your team understands not only what needs to happen, but why.

You'll monitor documentation, medication management, assessments, care plans, staff competencies, incident follow-up, and other areas of clinical compliance.

When a gap exists, you'll identify it.

When a process isn't working, you'll fix it.

And when corrective action is necessary, you'll make sure it happens and stays corrected.

What You'll Lead

Clinical Operations & Resident Care

Oversee day-to-day clinical operations within Assisted Living and Memory Care.
Ensure resident assessments, service plans, documentation, and clinical interventions are accurate and completed appropriately.
Oversee medication management and clinical processes.
Monitor changes in condition and ensure appropriate clinical follow-up.
Partner with physicians, pharmacies, hospitals, therapists, hospice, home health, and other healthcare providers.
Support admissions and ensure new residents transition safely into the community.

Regulatory Compliance & Survey Readiness

Maintain compliance with Minnesota Assisted Living regulations and applicable governing bodies.
Keep the community prepared for state surveys and regulatory reviews.
Participate in survey processes and communicate confidently and professionally with state surveyors.
Identify compliance gaps and implement corrective action.
Ensure clinical documentation supports regulatory requirements and resident plans of care.
Educate staff on regulatory expectations and hold the team accountable for consistent compliance.
Use audits, quality reviews, and performance data to proactively identify areas of risk.

Leadership, Coaching & Accountability

You'll:

Lead, coach, mentor, and develop licensed and unlicensed clinical staff.
Establish clear expectations and follow through on them.
Provide regular feedback instead of waiting for annual reviews.
Recognize high performers and help them continue growing.
Address performance concerns directly, professionally, and consistently.
Conduct competency evaluations and identify training opportunities.
Partner with leadership on performance improvement and corrective action when necessary.
Help emerging leaders develop the confidence and skills to take on greater responsibility.
Create a culture where compassion and accountability coexist.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

Active Minnesota Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
Strong professional experience within Assisted Living and/or Memory Care.
Previous nursing leadership, management, or supervisory experience.
Working knowledge of Minnesota Assisted Living regulations, compliance requirements, and governing bodies.
Experience preparing for and participating in state surveys or regulatory reviews.
Experience leading both licensed and unlicensed clinical staff.
Demonstrated ability to coach employees, address performance issues, and hold team members accountable.
Strong understanding of resident assessments, care planning, medication management, clinical documentation, and quality improvement.
Experience with electronic medical records.
Excellent clinical judgment, communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities.
