Full Job Description

The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for leading all quality systems, compliance activities, customer quality requirements, and quality personnel within a high-volume wire harness and cable assembly manufacturing facility. This position owns site quality performance and provides strategic leadership and hands-on management across cable preparation, harness assembly, crimping, molding, and ultrasonic welding operations.

The Quality Assurance Manager serves as the primary quality representative for customers, auditors, and internal stakeholders while driving a culture of continuous improvement, operational excellence, customer satisfaction, and regulatory compliance. This role will build and develop the quality organization as the facility ramps to full production capacity.

Quality Leadership & Strategy

· Own and continuously improve the site Quality Management System (QMS).

· Establish quality objectives aligned with organizational goals.

· Develop quality strategies that support manufacturing growth and customer requirements.

· Lead management review processes and quality performance reporting.

Quality Systems & Compliance

· Ensure compliance with: ISO 9001, ISO 14001, Customer-specific requirements, Internal quality standards

· Manage quality documentation, traceability systems, and records.

· Own core quality methodologies including: PPAP, PFMEA, SPC, MSA, CAPA

Production Quality Management

· Oversee: Incoming inspection, In-process inspection, Testing and validation, Final inspection operations

· Ensure process control of critical manufacturing operations including crimping, ultrasonic welding, molding, and harness assembly.

· Support new product introduction and process validation activities.

Customer Quality & Audit Management

· Serve as primary quality contact for customers.

· Lead customer complaint investigations and corrective actions.

· Manage customer scorecards and quality performance metrics.

· Lead internal, customer, and third-party audits.

· Drive audit readiness and compliance initiatives.

Leadership & Talent Development

· Directly manage: Quality Engineers, Quality Supervisors, Quality Inspectors

· Recruit, develop, coach, and retain quality personnel.

· Conduct performance management and employee development activities.

· Build succession plans and training programs for the quality organization.

· Promote accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement culture.

Continuous Improvement

· Lead root cause investigations utilizing: 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone Analysis, CAPA Processes

· Drive initiatives focused on: Scrap reduction, Yield improvement, Customer satisfaction, Cost of Quality reduction

· Support Lean Manufacturing and Operational Excellence initiatives.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

· Partner with Engineering, Production, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and Operations leadership.

· Participate in capacity planning, new equipment implementation, and manufacturing ramp-up activities.

· Support business growth through scalable quality systems and processes.

Qualifications:

Education

· Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, or related field preferred.

· Equivalent combination of education and 8 years’ experience may be considered.

Experience

· Minimum 5+ years of progressive quality leadership experience within manufacturing.

· Previous management experience leading quality teams required.

· Strongly preferred experience in: Wire and cable manufacturing, Harness assembly, Crimping operations, Ultrasonic welding, Molding operations

· Experience supporting OEM or automotive customers preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

· Expert knowledge of ISO quality systems and manufacturing quality methodologies.

· Strong experience with PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA, CAPA, and 8D.

· Ability to read engineering drawings and GD&T.

· Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills.

· Excellent customer-facing communication and presentation abilities.

· Strategic thinker with strong operational execution capabilities.

· Experience with ERP systems such as SAP preferred.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:

· Regular presence on the manufacturing floor.

· Ability to stand, walk, and inspect production operations daily.

· Ability to travel occasionally to customer or supplier locations.

· Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.

· Must be able to wear required PPE and comply with all safety requirements.

· Work performed in both office and manufacturing environments.
