What You'll Do
No two days are exactly alike! You'll help maintain parks, athletic fields, and recreation facilities so they're safe, attractive, and ready for the community to enjoy.
Your responsibilities will include:

Mowing, trimming, edging, weed eating, fertilizing, and spraying landscaped areas.

Maintaining baseball, soccer, and football fields to meet league standards.

Measuring, lining, grooming, and preparing athletic fields for practices and games.
-
Operating field grooming and grounds maintenance equipment.
-
Performing basic building maintenance, including changing light bulbs, replacing HVAC filters, and cleaning fixtures.
-
Assisting with general maintenance projects involving plumbing, electrical work, painting, and carpentry.

Inspecting and maintaining equipment used for grounds and field maintenance.
-
Reporting major maintenance concerns to supervisors.
-
Working as part of a team by assisting co-workers when needed.

Performing other duties that help keep our parks and facilities in great shape.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent.

At least one (1) year of landscaping experience, preferably in a parks or recreation setting. Equivalent combinations of education and experience totaling one year may also be considered.

CPR and First Aid Certification (required within 90 days of hire).

Valid South Carolina Driver's License.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Successful candidates will have:

Knowledge of groundskeeping and athletic field maintenance.

Understanding of safe landscaping and maintenance practices.
-
Experience operating power tools and grounds maintenance equipment.
-
Basic knowledge of department policies and procedures.
-
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
-
The ability to multitask and work independently or as part of a team.
-
The ability to perform physically demanding work, including heavy lifting.
Physical Requirements
This position is active and hands-on. Employees regularly lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. The job also requires standing, walking, climbing, kneeling, crouching, reaching, bending, repetitive motion, and operating various tools and equipment throughout the workday.
Work Environment
If you enjoy being outside, this is the job for you! Work is primarily performed outdoors in all types of weather and includes regular exposure to noise, dirt, dust, grease, insects, landscaping chemicals, and maintenance equipment.
