Full Job Description

Finance Director

$150,000–$185,000 | Hybrid | Charlotte Region

A growing, privately held organization is seeking an experienced Finance Director to lead and strengthen its finance and accounting function.

This is a hands-on leadership role for a CPA who can build scalable processes, develop a small finance team, ensure exceptional financial accuracy, and help prepare the organization for continued growth.

The right candidate can move comfortably between detailed accounting work and executive-level financial strategy.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and develop a small finance and accounting team
Own monthly close, financial reporting, reconciliations, and financial controls
Ensure accurate, timely, GAAP-compliant financial information
Build and improve scalable accounting processes, systems, and controls
Lead budgeting, forecasting, modeling, and variance analysis
Analyze business-unit performance, profitability, margins, and key financial drivers
Improve reporting, automation, and data integrity
Identify financial and operational improvement opportunities
Support expansion and strategic initiatives
Partner with executive leadership on financial performance and decision-making
Manage audit, tax, banking, and outside financial relationships

Qualifications

Active CPA required
10+ years of progressive accounting and finance leadership experience
Strong hands-on Controller or finance leadership background
Experience leading and developing a finance/accounting team
Experience in a multi-unit, multi-location, or decentralized organization preferred
Demonstrated success building or improving financial processes, systems, and controls
Strong GAAP, close, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis expertise
Exceptional attention to detail and follow-through
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent executive communication and business judgment
Comfortable remaining hands-on while also operating at a strategic level
