Beck Aesthetic Surgery is seeking an experienced, compassionate, and highly organized Clinical Registered Nurse (RN) to join our plastic surgery team. The Clinical RN will play an essential role in providing exceptional clinical care throughout the patient journey—from consultation and preoperative preparation through surgery and postoperative recovery.
This position is ideal for an RN who is passionate about plastic surgery, aesthetics, patient education, and delivering an elevated patient experience. The successful candidate will be clinically confident, detail-oriented, professional, and comfortable working closely with a plastic surgeon, advanced practice providers, clinical staff, and administrative team.
The Clinical RN will be responsible for preoperative appointments, postoperative visits, patient education, clinical triage, wound assessment, surgical follow-up, coordination of care, and assisting the surgeon with in-office procedures and clinical needs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Preoperative Patient Care
- Conduct comprehensive preoperative appointments for surgical patients.
- Review medical history, medications, allergies, health conditions, and surgical history.
- Obtain and document vital signs and other required clinical information.
- Review and reinforce preoperative instructions and expectations.
- Educate patients regarding surgical preparation, medications, nutrition, activity restrictions, and recovery.
- Review required medical clearances, laboratory results, EKGs, and other testing prior to surgery.
- Identify potential medical or clinical concerns and communicate appropriately with the surgeon.
- Ensure preoperative documentation and requirements are complete before the scheduled procedure.
- Provide patients with appropriate educational materials and reinforce the surgical plan.
- Coordinate with the surgery scheduler, surgeon, anesthesia team, and surgery center as needed.
- Help patients feel confident, informed, and prepared for their surgical experience.
Postoperative Patient Care
- Perform postoperative assessments and follow-up visits according to the surgeon's protocols.
- Assess incisions, wounds, drains, swelling, bruising, pain, and healing progress.
- Perform wound care, dressing changes, drain management, and other postoperative treatments as ordered.
- Remove drains, sutures, staples, and dressings as directed by the surgeon.
- Reinforce postoperative restrictions, medication instructions, compression garment use, and activity guidelines.
- Educate patients regarding expected healing versus signs and symptoms requiring medical attention.
- Communicate postoperative concerns promptly to the surgeon.
- Document all patient encounters, assessments, interventions, and communications accurately.
- Maintain consistent follow-up with patients who require additional monitoring or intervention.
- Provide compassionate support and reassurance throughout the recovery process.
Clinical Support & Patient Management
- Assist the plastic surgeon and clinical team during office procedures and treatments.
- Prepare examination and procedure rooms and ensure necessary supplies are available.
- Assist with minor procedures, injections, wound care, and other clinical services within scope of practice and physician direction.
- Perform clinical triage by phone, electronic communication, and in person.
- Respond appropriately to patient questions and postoperative concerns.
- Determine when concerns require immediate physician evaluation or emergency care.
- Communicate patient updates and concerns efficiently with the surgeon and clinical team.
- Coordinate prescriptions, refills, labs, imaging, medical clearances, and outside medical records as needed.
- Follow established clinical protocols and escalation procedures.
- Assist with maintaining appropriate clinical inventory and supply levels.
- Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and professional clinical environment.
Patient Experience
- Deliver an exceptional, personalized patient experience at every interaction.
- Establish trust and rapport with surgical patients.
- Serve as a consistent clinical resource for patients before and after surgery.
- Explain clinical information in a clear, approachable, and reassuring manner.
- Maintain professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality at all times.
- Anticipate patient needs and proactively communicate important information.
- Help create a luxury, concierge-level experience consistent with the Beck Aesthetic Surgery brand.
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the EMR.
- Complete all clinical documentation in accordance with practice standards.
- Follow HIPAA, OSHA, infection prevention, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Maintain appropriate nursing standards of practice and operate within the RN's scope of practice.
- Follow physician orders, practice protocols, and established clinical policies.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical process development.
- Assist in maintaining accurate patient records and surgical documentation.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina.
- Associate or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program.
- Current BLS certification.
- Minimum of 2–3 years of clinical nursing experience preferred.
- Strong assessment, communication, and organizational skills.
- Excellent clinical judgment and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently while functioning effectively as part of a collaborative team.

- Strong computer and EMR skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive patient information appropriately.
