Location: Charlotte, NC 28210
Schedule: Full-Time | Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

About the Opportunity

A well-established Primary Care practice serving the Pineville and South Charlotte communities is seeking a compassionate, organized, and patient-focused Medical Assistant to join its clinical team. This role combines direct patient care, clinical support, and administrative responsibilities in a fast-paced outpatient environment focused on preventive care, chronic disease management, and overall patient wellness.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, dependable, and committed to providing exceptional patient care while supporting providers in delivering high-quality primary healthcare services.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical & Patient Care Duties

Prepare patients for examinations by obtaining medical histories, vital signs, medication lists, and chief complaints.
Assist providers with patient examinations, treatments, and office-based procedures.
Accurately document patient encounters, assessments, and treatment plans within the electronic health record (EHR).
Administer injections, immunizations, medications, and treatments within scope of practice.
Perform venipuncture, specimen collection, processing, and laboratory preparation.
Conduct CLIA-waived testing and other clinical procedures as permitted.
Perform EKGs, point-of-care testing, and other diagnostic procedures as directed.
Educate patients regarding treatment plans, medications, preventive health measures, and follow-up care.
Communicate laboratory and diagnostic results to patients under provider direction.
Process prescription refill requests and prior authorizations.
Respond to patient calls, portal messages, and clinical inquiries.
Coordinate referrals, specialist appointments, diagnostic testing, and follow-up visits.
Assist with patient triage and urgent care concerns as needed.
Support chronic disease management programs for conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, and asthma.

Administrative Responsibilities

Maintain accurate and complete patient records within the EHR.
Review charts to ensure all required documentation, forms, and reports are available prior to appointments.
Obtain and coordinate medical records, laboratory reports, imaging results, and referral documentation.
Schedule patient appointments, preventive care visits, and specialty referrals.
Complete forms, requisitions, prior authorizations, and other required documentation.
Collaborate with providers and healthcare professionals to support continuity of care.

Clinical Operations & Inventory

Prepare and stock examination rooms according to clinical protocols.
Clean and disinfect rooms, instruments, and equipment between patient visits.
Maintain compliance with infection control, OSHA, HIPAA, and safety standards.
Monitor medical supply inventory and assist with ordering and stocking supplies.
Maintain required logs, equipment checks, vaccine storage records, and quality control documentation.
Support efficient patient flow throughout the clinic.
Assist with quality improvement initiatives and preventive care outreach efforts.

Qualifications / Required

High school diploma or equivalent.
Completion of an accredited Medical Assisting program or equivalent healthcare experience.
Current American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Minimum of one year of recent Medical Assistant experience in a healthcare setting or completion of a documented externship in a medical office.
Experience obtaining vital signs, administering injections, performing venipuncture, and utilizing electronic health records.
Strong communication, organizational, multitasking, and customer service skills.

Preferred

Current CMA (Certified Medical Assistant) or RMA (Registered Medical Assistant) certification.
Previous experience in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Primary Care, or Urgent Care.
Experience with chronic disease management and preventive care initiatives.
Knowledge of quality measures, immunization schedules, and preventive health guidelines.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
