Full Job Description

Multi-Entity Accountant / Bookkeeper

Stormwater Management Solutions, LLC (SWM) is seeking an experienced Multi-Entity Accountant / Bookkeeper to join our growing accounting team. This position is ideal for someone who is highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing the day-to-day accounting needs of multiple companies.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records across multiple entities, processing transactions, completing reconciliations, supporting month-end close, and ensuring transactions are properly recorded to the correct company and account.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain accurate books and records for multiple related business entities
Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
Enter invoices, payments, deposits, journal entries, and other daily transactions
Complete monthly bank and credit card reconciliations
Maintain and reconcile intercompany Due To/Due From accounts
Ensure expenses and transactions are recorded in the correct legal entity
Process and reconcile company credit cards
Assist with payroll-related accounting entries and reconciliations
Maintain prepaid expenses, fixed assets, accruals, and other balance sheet accounts
Assist with monthly and year-end closing procedures
Review general ledger activity for unusual or incorrect transactions
Research and correct accounting discrepancies
Assist with accounts receivable collections and aging reviews
Assist with accounts payable and vendor statement reconciliations
Maintain organized and accurate accounting documentation
Prepare routine financial and accounting reports
Work closely with management and the accounting team to resolve accounting issues
Support project and job-cost accounting as needed

Qualifications

3+ years of hands-on bookkeeping or accounting experience
Experience maintaining books for multiple entities strongly preferred
Strong understanding of debits, credits, and general ledger accounting
Experience with bank and balance sheet reconciliations
Understanding of intercompany transactions and Due To/Due From accounts
Strong accounts payable and accounts receivable experience
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to identify and correct accounting errors
Strong Excel skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Construction accounting experience is a plus
Experience with Sage or other construction accounting software is a plus

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who can own the day-to-day bookkeeping process and keep multiple entities organized and accurate.

The ideal candidate:

Takes ownership of their work
Doesn't simply enter transactions but understands why they are being recorded
Notices discrepancies and investigates them
Keeps reconciliations current
Is comfortable working with multiple companies and sets of books
Has excellent attention to detail
Can work independently while communicating effectively with the accounting team
Is willing to ask questions when something doesn't look right

Preferred Experience

Experience in a construction, contracting, or project-based business is highly preferred. Familiarity with job costing, subcontractors, retainage, equipment, construction billing, and project-related expenses is a strong plus.
