Full Job Description

Controller‑Level Accountant

Location: Fort Mill, SC
Work Arrangement: In‑Office

Employment Type:

Direct Hire

Position Summary

We are seeking a controller‑level accounting professional who is comfortable working in a small office environment and taking ownership of both day‑to‑day accounting functions and higher‑level financial responsibilities. This is a hands‑on role for someone who enjoys wearing many hats and being closely involved in the business.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Post and apply daily cash receipts
Review and approve Positive Pay transactions
Enter and process overhead accounts payable
Create and maintain projects in the accounting system
Review purchase orders and match invoices
Review sales orders and process customer invoices
Process vendor ACH and wire payments
Prepare and review weekly cash forecasts
Process semi‑monthly payroll
Reconcile and post corporate credit card statements
Perform monthly bank reconciliations
Prepare and file monthly sales tax returns
Manage and execute the full month‑end close
Prepare salesperson commission reports
Perform fixed asset reconciliations
Prepare quarterly financial statements
Support annual general ledger and workers’ compensation insurance audits

Primary systems used include Microsoft Business Central, SouthState, ADP, Schwab, and various banking and state tax portals.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
7+ years of progressive accounting experience; controller or assistant controller experience preferred
Strong GAAP and full‑cycle accounting knowledge
Experience in a small or midsize company with hands‑on responsibilities
Microsoft Business Central experience strongly preferred
Strong Excel and payroll system experience

Pay: $100,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
