Full Job Description

The Department of Neurology at the University of Virginia seeks applicants for a Child Neurologist at the Assistant Professor rank. The incumbent will participate in caring for children with neurological disorders in the inpatient and outpatient settings. To be considered for the tenure-eligible position, candidates must have a strong interest in a career in academic medicine and demonstrate scholarship and excellence in two domains consistent with the requirements for tenure in the School of Medicine. Preference will be given to candidates with an interest in Movement Disorders.

The University of Virginia and affiliated UVAHealth form the premier institution for medical research and clinical care in the Commonwealth of Virginia. The faculty member will be welcomed into the highly collaborative environment of the University of Virginia and have ready access to several research-oriented schools and centers across the University of Virginia grounds, which provide a rich platform for shared discovery.

The University of Virginia is located east of the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, just 30 minutes from Shenandoah National Park and 100 miles south of Washington DC. Charlottesville is considered among the best places to live in the US, with a vibrant arts and music scene, pristine nature, local wineries and breweries, and tons of small-town charm. Candidates must have an MD, MD/PhD, DO or other equivalent terminal degree, and be board-certified or board-eligible in Neurology with special qualifications in child neurology at the time of hire. Specialized fellowship training in a related field is strongly preferred. Evidence of academic productivity is highly valued.
