GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
This is a FLSA exempt position. The incumbent serves as the Regional Navigator for the STEP-VA Service Members, Veterans, and Families (SMVF) and Peer and Family Support Partner Initiatives in Region 1. In this capacity, they have the responsibility for providing guidance, resources, and coordination of resources/services across the region, which is comprised of nine Community Services Boards. The purpose of this position is to provide dedicated capacity at the regional level to support local, regional, and state level SMVF & Peer Initiatives in service to the goals, service, definition, and deliverables of the SMVF and Peer/FSP STEP-VA Initiatives.
The incumbent reports to the Director of Regional Training and performs duties working independently while referring appropriate situations to the supervisor. Standard practices allow for the independent accomplishment of many tasks and use of own initiative for prioritizing the work schedule. In carrying out position duties, they perform in accordance with applicable professional ethics and established Region Ten policies, especially in regards to confidentiality and customer satisfaction.
MAJOR DUTIES:

1. Assesses and responds to regional needs and initiatives regarding SMVF & Peer/FSP services
2. Serves as primary point of contact for SMVF & Peer/FSP Initiatives and other projects as assigned by supervisor
3. Establishes partnerships with relevant federal, state, and local levels to engage resources for SMVF & Peer/FSP regional initiatives.
4. Develops and maintains library of resources regarding SMVF & Peer/FSP for regional access including service providers and referral processes
5. Participates in regional SMVF & Peer/FSP programs focused on suicide prevention (Governor’s Suicide Prevention Challenge, crisis system development, etc.) and serves on related workgroups.
6. Facilitates SMVF & Peer/FSP focused regional group for internal and external stakeholders to provide resources, discuss needs and trends in service provision for the SMVF & Peer/FSP population as well as offer network and outreach opportunities.
7. Collects and reports data related to SMVF & Peer/FSP initiatives for the region in compliance with DBHDS requirements.
8. Responds to case reviews
9. Assists in the research, design, development, and implementation of an ongoing training plan regarding SMVF & Peer/FSP population for Region 1 staff that meet licensure and other regulatory requirements as specified in federal, state regulations, and local/agency policy.
10. Provides training and staff development opportunities in collaboration with the Director of Regional Training to enhance capacity and competencies among clinical and administrative staff within region.
11. Assists in the creation of evaluation tools for ongoing evaluation of efficiency and effectiveness of SMVF & Peer/FSP regional initiatives
12. Reads all agency communication (i.e. Staff Notes, E-mail, etc.).
13. Serves as primary point of contact for SMVF & Peer/FSP initiatives as well as other projects assigned by supervisor.
14. Provides training, coaching & technical support to develop internal staff trainees for program sustainability.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
- The incumbent must have a Bachelor’s Degree in behavioral health or human services related field. Master’s degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
- The incumbent must have prior military and/or substance use and/or mental health related lived experience (preferred) and/or knowledge

Knowledge of: Development and implementation of SMVF & Peer/FSP regional initiatives; DBHDS requirements in regards to regional initiatives, including the STEP-VA SMVF Initiative and the STEP-VA Peer & FSP Initiative; federal, state, and local resources for SMVF & Peer/FSP population; family systems; organizational structure of Region 1 CSBs and programs; programmatic knowledge; gleaning key teaching points from policies and procedures; standard office practices and procedures; instructional and office equipment to effectively complete job duties; efficient, reliable office organization; word processing software to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint as well as knowledge of learning management systems.

Working Conditions: Region Ten oversees regional services and programs that support the 9 Community Services Boards in Region 1. Solid, reliable, 40 hour per week attendance is a business necessity in order to provide continuous, organized, professional services. maintain up to date records and complete assigned tasks to ensure objectives are met. Occasional evenings or weekends as needed and discussed with supervisor. Use of annual leave must be scheduled at least two weeks in advance to allow for appropriate temporary assistance to be assured for coverage. Unplanned leave is a job performance factor.
