Full Job Description

Wills and Associates is a growing tax and accounting firm in Charlottesville, VA, serving high-net-worth individuals, Schedule C filers, and small business owners. We're looking for an experienced Full Charge Bookkeeper who can take full ownership of a client's books from start to finish — no hand-holding required.

This isn't a data-entry role. You'll be trusted to run the full bookkeeping cycle for your clients independently, using your judgment to solve problems as they come up, and deliver clean, accurate, tax-ready books without needing a manager to walk you through it.

What You'll Do:

Own the full bookkeeping cycle for a portfolio of clients: transaction coding, account reconciliations, accounts payable/receivable, and payroll journal entries
Prepare and deliver accurate monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements
Manage the monthly close independently, from start to finish
Identify and resolve discrepancies, coding issues, and reconciliation problems on your own
Maintain GAAP-compliant, audit-ready books at all times
Ensure books are clean and tax-ready ahead of filing deadlines, working directly with our tax team
Communicate directly with clients on day-to-day bookkeeping and financial questions
Flag planning opportunities or red flags to firm leadership when they come up — you're the eyes on the ground for your clients

What We're Looking For:

5+ years of full-charge bookkeeping experience, ideally across multiple clients or industries
Proven ability to run a full close independently, start to finish, with minimal oversight
Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks Online (QBO Certification a plus)
Solid grasp of GAAP and general accounting principles
Comfortable learning new technology — we lean into AI tools and automation
High attention to detail and strong problem-solving instincts
Ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines at once without dropping the ball
Clear, professional communication skills — you'll be client-facing
TaxDome or similar practice management software experience a plus
