We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Inventory Assistant and Sales Lead to join our team. This role combines the vital responsibilities of processing inventory and leading sales initiatives to drive business growth. The ideal candidate will be passionate about customer engagement and have an excellent eye for detail.
Previous retail experience is required. Must be 18 or older to apply.
The Inventory Assistant/Sales Lead position is a part-time position responsible for the weekly processing and presentation of secondhand inventory and leadership on the weekend sales team. This is a customer facing position that requires both excellent customer service and sales floor management, as well as a knowledge of brands and current styles/trends, an eye for detail, time management, and excellent organization.
The Inventory Team consists of the Inventory Manager (full time), 2 Inventory Assistants (full time), and 1-3 part time associates cross-trained as Inventory Assistants. The entire team works in a rotation to cover weekday inventory tasks and weekend sales floor shifts. These positions are supervised by the Inventory Manager.
This position is a Tier 2 employee for Darling Boutique LLC (DBA DarlingxDashing Boutique) – a key holder, part-time position that works 3-5 days a week (15-28 hours).
This employee has excellent organization and merchandising skills, a love of secondhand clothing and a great eye for trendy styles, an eye for detail, a passion for content creation, and excellent customer service and people skills.
Required Availability:
Rotational schedule among the inventory team, including the following shifts and availability:
Sundays: ~6 hour shift, 10:00am - 5:30pm (IA) or 11:45am - 5:15pm (SL)
Mondays: ~5-8 hour shift, 10:00am-6:15pm or 1:30-6:30pm (IA)Tuesdays: ~8 hour shift, 10:45am - 6:15pm (IA)
Fridays: ~4-5 hour shift, 10:45am-4pm, 2:00-6:15pm, or 12:00-5:00pm (SL)Saturdays: ~5 hour shift, anytime between 9:45am - 6:30pm (SL)
Pay range: $15.50-$17/hr
This position has the potential for growth from part time Inventory Assistant/Sales Lead to full time Inventory Assistant/Sales Lead, given performance and development on the team.
Requirements:
- Prior retail experience – sales floor and/or inventory management
- Weekday and weekend availability
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to stand and work for up to 8 hours, lift heavy loads of clothes, move inventory around the shop floor (3 levels with stairs)
- Competency with social media, computer based point of sale systems, Google drive & Google sheets, Canva, email and other communication technologies
- Must be able to easily make small talk and chat with customers & consignors about shop processes and information, and answer the phone and texts professionally
- Must have an eye for merchandising, presentation of inventory, and for condition of items
This position includes but is not limited to: processing new secondhand inventory (steaming/presentation, photographing for e-commerce, and tagging/distributing), assisting in processing new artisan inventory, processing mark downs and end of cycle consignment inventory, daily social media tasks and content creation assistance, sales associate and sales lead duties, floor shop recovery and dressing room management, weekly supply checks, and other duties as assigned.
General Duties
- Process secondhand inventory on a weekly basis under the Inventory Manager, including mark downs and end of consignment cycle on Sundays to new arrivals processing, merchandising, and distribution on Sundays-Tuesdays.
- Manage consignor account and payout inquiries alongside the Inventory Manager.
- Manage Sales Associate/Lead related tasks such as customer engagement, shop recovery and organization (straightening and organization of the shop and dressing rooms), and sales.
- Manage social media DMs and texts and calls to answer customer inquiries.
- Manage social media posts and stories according to the content calendar.
- Assist the management team with any daily shop needs, such as artisan inventory processing or merchandising, and other weekly tasks or duties as assigned.
- Process online orders for store pick up or shipping.
- Complete weekly Supply Checks using the “Supply Inventory List” spreadsheet provided. Write up all items we are low in the “reorders” channel on Slack to communicate with management shop supply needs.
- Assist with weekly content creation & product photography for e-commerce.
INVENTORY ASSISTANT DUTIES
Processing New Inventory: Secondhand and Artisan
- Assist in the processing of secondhand and artisan inventory on a weekly basis with Inventory Manager
- Responsible for the presentation of inventory in store and online and inventory organization in the shop for the ease of customer shopping experience in store and online
- Responsible for the organization and flow of secondhand inventory as processed by Inventory Manager – this flow includes steaming and item presentation, photographing for the online store, labeling and tagging inventory, and organizing inventory for distribution and presentation in the shops.
- Responsible for catching as the third pass on items any flaws to inform Inventory Manager and accurate pricing and photographing of items for selling.
- Once all inventory is processed, distribute items and merchandise effectively for sales around the shop in their appropriate places per shop organization and product presentation.
- Process weekly new arrivals story on social media for both Darling and Dashing, as well as new artisan arrivals
- Assist in the labeling, tagging, product photography, and merchandising of artisan inventory
- Assist in the upkeep of e-commerce inventory items on Shopify as assigned
- Assist in inventory audits of artisan inventory and restock requests with artisans as assigned
Managing Weekly Expired Items and Mark Downs: Secondhand
- Mark down all secondhand inventory that has been on the floor for 45 days as assigned by Inventory Manager and move to sale sections
- Pull items that have been on the floor longer than 60 days alongside Inventory Manager and process for Super Sale or donate
- Take photos of top favorite weekly markdowns and post to IG story for Sunday social media task with products tagged
- Move all new arrivals to their appropriate places in the shop to make room for new weekly arrivals
SALES LEAD DUTIES
This position is a sales associate that has mastered all shop knowledge required of the sales team. They are highly proficient in customer engagement, all communication and technology systems and processes, and all daily shop processes. They are a strong leader AND a strong team player. They are able to lead and support new hires and are always on top of shop updates and news. They are a liaison to the manager on duty (MOD) when scheduled, assisting in excellent customer experiences and daily documentation of foot traffic and shop scenarios or issues that arise. They serve as floor coverage when the MOD takes a break, and they are in command of the sales floor and Sales Associates at all times, alongside the MOD. They are on top of new products and business development, to best assist in hitting sales targets and achieve business growth.
What shifts does the Team Lead Sales Associate work?
Saturdays - 11:45am-5:15pm, responsible for covering the sales floor when the manager is on lunch
Sundays 11:45-5:15 full day covering the sales floor with the inventory manager is upstairs processing
Fridays - 12-6:15pm, as needed for manager coverage
Duties and Responsibilities Can Include:
- Demonstrates team leadership among the Sales Associates when scheduled
- Cultivates excellent customer experiences and leads the team in customer engagement and satisfaction
- Upholds a high level of organization throughout the shop and all inventory each day through communication with the Sales Associate team
- Contributes to documentation of Daily Shop Report notes (i.e. foot traffic, any customer issues, handling issues and communicating with the manager on duty)
- Liaison between the manager on duty and the sales associates when the MoD is not on the sales floor
- Covers the sales floor when MoD is not present on the sales floor (i.e. during breaks on Saturdays/Sundays, when the Inventory Store Manager is processing inventory in the office, etc.)
- Sales activation and cashier duties, and assist management team with sales strategy and goals
- Assists in the meeting of sales goals and incentives with Sales Associates to bring a high level of team performance and business success alongside management team
- Assists in the management of dressing rooms, put backs, and shop organization/cleanliness
- Assists in the management of communication coming in from various platforms (email, phone, webchat, social media) with professionalism and excellent grammar as a representative of the business
- Receive and process online orders for pick up or shipping with manager sign off for accuracy
- Change the mannequins and select pieces for a styled social media tasks or content creation
- Perform all tasks on Opening/Closing duties and Daily Checklists, such as cleaning tasks and restocks of store supplies and other inventory, and countdowns before closing.
- Customer Service: Greeting and engaging with customers, assisting customers with shopping needs, sales activation and customer retention, etc.
- Independently manage daily social media tasks and posts, i.e. outfit of the day, taking photos, using apps to edit/template, and posting on behalf of the shop to social media channels.
- Handle discounts of damaged items based on shop policy: making independent decisions.
- Manages difficult customer interactions by deescalating, communicating clearly, and getting the manager when needed and always communicating with the manager and Daily Shop Report.
- Help monitor and keep an eye out for shoplifting: Stay alert, stay on the floor, interact with customers, communicate with your manager, call the police, follow store protocol.
- Understand what to do in an emergency when working with others and working alone in the shop.
- Technology Competency:
- Checking customers out using all forms of transaction & payment
- Checking a consignor’s balance and knowing how to tell a customer their balance in store credit vs. direct deposit accurately
- Understanding our consignment processes and systems
- A multi app / multi step social media posting process using Canva templates
- App based communication tools such as Mail, Slack, and Chatra
- Resource platforms like Trello, Google drive & Google sheets
- Apple devices
Pay: $15.50 - $17.00 per hour
Expected hours: 15.0 – 28.0 per week
