Full Job Description

Multi-attorney family law firm in downtown Charlottesville seeks part time (20-30 hrs per week) experienced paralegal to assist attorneys with litigation-related legal tasks, especially working with clients in responding to discovery. Candidates must have prior family law paralegal experience, or at least, significant other litigation law office experience. Duties include: interacting with clients and other attorneys, reviewing and propounding discovery, assisting clients with discovery answers and responses to document requests; issuing witness and document subpoenas; communicating with court staff members; assisting attorneys with litigation tasks, inc. trial preparation, typing documents, mailing, copying and scanning documents; communicating with clients, opposing attorneys, and their staff, and other general office duties, as needed. You must be able to work as a team with other office staff and attorneys. The ideal candidate will be able to multi-task and will have a positive attitude, an outgoing friendly personality, and a professional appearance and demeanor when interacting with others. Attention to detail is critical, as are strong oral and written communication skills. Position is part time with significant schedule flexibility available for the right candidate, including opportunity for hybrid remote work. Compensation depends on experience and may also include a monthly commission, in addition to the hourly rate. Smoke free office. Friendly and collegial atmosphere.
