PROGRAM MANAGER - JOB DESCRIPTION

Communities In Schools (CIS) is the nation's largest organization dedicated to empowering at-risk students to stay in school and on a path to a brighter future. Working directly inside more than 2,500 school and community sites across the country, we connect kids to caring adults and community resources designed to help them succeed in school and life. We do whatever it takes to ensure that all kids - regardless of the challenges they may face - have what they need to realize their full potential.

This position is responsible for ongoing support to CIS Site Coordinators at CIS NOVA sites located in Albemarle County Public Schools (ACPS). (We also work in Alexandria City, Arlington, and Loudoun County, VA. Reporting to the VP and COO, this position will support site staff in the planning and implementation of the CIS Model of Integrated Student Supports by integrating best practice programming with community, corporate and public resources, and strong program evaluation to drive positive outcomes for under-resourced students. A portion of this work will include career exploration, planning, and college readiness to ensure that underrepresented student populations are part of the talent pipeline.

Increased attendance, improved behavior and satisfactory coursework, in addition to parent and family engagement, are the cornerstones of our work. Our school-based site coordinators identify students in danger of not achieving their potential, assess student needs and provide wrap-around interventions and resources to change the picture of education one student at a time. The Program Manager position will focus on programming and support in implementing the CIS Model of Integrated Student Supports with fidelity at all schools and maintaining national accreditation. .

CIS NOVA Student Profile
CIS NOVA targets under-resourced, English language learners, low income and first generation college students facing barriers to academic achievement and post secondary access.

Key Responsibilities
▪ Represent CIS NOVA as a liaison with community partners in building an inclusive community of support for students including public, private and community partners as well as volunteers
▪ Develop and nurture relationships with partner schools sites; raise the profile of CIS NOVA with partner schools.
▪ Supervise and assist Site Coordinators with program development and implementation of the CIS Model, creating a data driven culture within CIS NOVA.
▪ Provide ongoing supervision, feedback, one on one coaching, mentoring, and counseling of Site Coordinators.
▪ Support Site Coordinators in goal setting, metrics, survey administration and measuring progress.
▪ Support Site Coordinators with the following: Tier 1 activities- school wide events, basic needs, health screenings and volunteer opportunities.
▪ Review Quarterly Progress Reports for the affiliate as required, maintaining affiliate data and evaluating progress towards annual goals and fulfillment of school district reporting and any grant requirements.

▪ Collaborate with staff to ensure proper record keeping and longitudinal tracking of student and alumni data.

▪ Support CIS NOVA’s professional growth and development by assisting the VP & COO with recruiting, hiring and onboarding staff as well as supporting continuing professional development.

▪ Develop shared metrics of success between school systems, community partners and CIS NOVA that define student success post graduation within multiple career pathways.

▪ Develop and support family engagement programming with an emphasis on supporting student achievement, tech literacy and CCLR pathways.

▪ Represent CIS NOVA, when feasible, on national and network initiatives.
▪ Perform other duties necessary for the successful operation of programs as assigned by Supervisor.
▪ Must possess a valid driver’s license and car in order to visit school sites and support Site Coordinators as needed.

Education / Prior Experience
▪ Bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred) in public administration, education, social services or a related field is required.
