Full Job Description

Job Summary
The Creative Arts Center in Chatham seeks an experienced bookkeeper to manage day-to-day financial transactions, maintain accurate accounting records, reconcile accounts, and help ensure our books remain organized and accurate for management reporting and annual CPA review. This on-site position plays a vital role in supporting the financial health of our established and growing organization.

The ideal candidate understands accounting fundamentals, takes pride in maintaining accurate records, and can work independently to ensure the organization's books remain clean, organized, and reliable.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Financial Management
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using the organization’s Accounting and Education Management Software platforms: QuickBooks Online and Art Center Canvas.

Payroll & Human Resources Support

Coordinate with the organization's third-party payroll provider and maintain payroll records.
Assist in coordinating payroll-related filings and deductions.
Review payroll reports and assist with payroll-related documentation and recordkeeping.

Budgeting & Reporting

Prepare monthly financial statements and reports for leadership.
Assist with annual budget preparation and monitoring.
Track grant revenue and expenses and assist with grant reporting requirements.
Provide financial information to support board meetings, finance committee and other committee reviews.
Assist in preparing materials to be provided to the external Accounting Firm for the annual review and filings.

Administrative & Compliance Support

Maintain organized financial files and records.
Ensure compliance with nonprofit financial policies and procedures.
Assist with special projects and administrative duties related to finance and operations.

Qualifications

Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
Minimum 3 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience; nonprofit experience preferred.
Experience with accounting software and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Work Schedule & Compensation

Estimate approximately 25 hours per week.
On-site position at the Creative Arts Center in Chatham.
Flexible weekday schedule available within business operating hours.
$25–$30 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
