Position Summary
The Assistant Director of Enrollment is a key member of the Enrollment Management team and reports to the Director of Enrollment Management. This position is responsible for recruiting, enrolling, and supporting prospective students and families throughout the admission process.
The Assistant Director manages an assigned recruitment territory from inquiry through enrollment, represents Chatham Hall through domestic travel connecting with prospective families, consultants, school placement officers, and alumnae, conducts interviews, evaluates applications as a member of the admission committee, participates in admission and financial aid decisions, and collaborates across departments to provide an exceptional experience for prospective families.
The successful candidate is highly organized, analytical, and relationship-oriented, with a commitment to equity, confidentiality, and the mission of Chatham Hall. As a member of the faculty, the Assistant Director contributes to and participates in the residential and community life of the School.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Admission and Enrollment
Serve as an admission officer for an assigned recruitment territory, guiding prospective families from inquiry through enrollment.
Build authentic relationships with prospective families while communicating the distinctive value of a Chatham Hall education.
Maintain timely and thoughtful communication with prospective families.
Conduct admission interviews, campus tours, and virtual information sessions.
Evaluate applicants and participate in Admission Committee discussions and enrollment recommendations.
Represent Chatham Hall at admission fairs, school visits, community events, and other recruitment opportunities as assigned.
Target and build relationships with K-8 schools, community organizations, and educational professionals.
Maintain accurate records and timely communication within the admissions database.
Enrollment Programs and Operations
Lead the planning and execution of admission events, including Open Houses, Accepted Student Days, campus visit programs, and virtual events.
Coordinate the Student Admission Ambassador Program, recruiting, training, and supporting student ambassadors.
Lead Attrition and Retention Management (ARM) meetings and collaborate with school leadership to support student retention efforts.
Partner with the Marketing and Communications Office to develop admission materials, recruitment communications, and branded promotional merchandise.
Recommend process improvements that strengthen the enrollment experience for prospective and current families.
Residential and School Life
As a member of the faculty, the Assistant Director is expected to contribute to the life of the School by:
Serving as a faculty advisor in partnership with another faculty member.
Participating in weekday and weekend residential duty as assigned.
Supporting student activities, traditions, and community events.
Serving as a positive ambassador for Chatham Hall within and beyond the school community.
Supervisor & Direct Reports
Reports to the Director of Enrollment Management. This position has no direct reports.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess:
A bachelor’s degree (required).
Experience in an independent school or educational environment.
Experience in admissions, enrollment management, or a related field preferred.
Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Outstanding customer service skills and the ability to communicate with empathy and discretion.
Strong organizational, project management, and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to manage confidential information with professionalism and integrity.
Proficiency with admission databases (Blackbaud), financial aid platforms (Clarity), Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and related technologies.
Ability to balance multiple priorities in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
Willingness to work evenings and weekends during peak admission seasons.
Commitment to the mission of Chatham Hall and to fostering an inclusive and welcoming community.
Experience
Minimum of 3-5 years in admissions or enrollment management
Experience in independent schools, higher education, or nonprofit organizations preferred.
Physical Requirements
Ability to perform the physical requirements of a professional office environment.
Ability to travel for recruitment events.
Ability to lift and transport materials weighing up to 30 pounds.
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while using standard office technology.

Compensation & Benefits
Salary range is between $45,000 - $60,000

Other Information
This administrative position is full-time (12 month/37.5 hours per week) and benefits eligible. Normal hours of work are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This position is based in an office environment within a residential boarding school campus. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required during payroll processing, open enrollment, orientation, graduation, or other school events.
