Job Summary:
As the Hydro Excavation Vac Foreman, you will ultimately be responsible for leading hydro excavation crews, coordinating daily field operations, and ensuring projects are completed safely, accurately, and on schedule. You will oversee hydro excavation activities, maintain quality and safety standards, and deliver efficient excavation services. As the Hydro Excavation Vac Foreman, your customers are Congruex project teams, utility clients, subcontractors, and regulatory agencies, and you will make meaningful contributions to the company's success through leadership, operational excellence, and safe project execution.
Key Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):
- Lead and manage daily activities of hydro excavation crews while coordinating field operations and project schedules.
- Operate hydro excavation vacuum trucks and related equipment to safely excavate, pothole utilities, and remove soil and debris.
- Inspect work sites for hazards, enforce OSHA and company safety standards, and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate materials, equipment, subcontractors, customer communications, and project updates while maintaining accurate daily documentation.
- Ensure proper disposal of excavated materials and restore work sites upon project completion.
- Train and support field personnel while communicating crew progress and operational needs with management.
- Additional responsibilities within functional scope based on business needs.
Required Qualifications:
Education, Licensing, and Certifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- OSHA 30 certification required.
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required.
- DOT Medical Card required.
- Competent Person Certification required.
- Confined Space, Trench Safety, Pole Climbing & Ladder Safety, Flagger, Forklift, and First Aid/CPR certifications required.
Experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience in hydro excavation operations.
- Experience leading field crews and coordinating utility excavation projects.
- Utility locating experience highly preferred.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and project specifications.
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to safely operate hydro excavation equipment and company vehicles.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and safe excavation practices.
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers, project teams, subcontractors, and local officials.
- Bilingual English/Spanish skills preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience coordinating subcontractors and complex utility excavation projects.
- Additional utility construction or underground infrastructure experience.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Stand, walk, bend, squat, kneel, climb, push, pull, and work in physically demanding positions for extended periods.
- Work performed indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions and around heavy equipment and machinery.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including safety boots, hard hat, safety glasses, and other required safety gear.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle record review.
