Part-Time Manager-On-Duty

Department: Events

Reports To: Director of Events

Location: Chattanooga Convention Center

Position Summary

The Part-Time Manager on Duty is responsible for the successful on-site execution of scheduled events. This role serves as the point of contact for clients during their event, ensuring seamless communication between the client and internal departments while maintaining exceptional service standards. The Manager on Duty does not participate in event planning or sales but is responsible for carrying out the event plan and addressing day-of operational needs.

Key Responsibilities

Serve as the on-site contact for clients during assigned shifts.
Oversee on-site execution of events, ensuring all client specifications are met and service levels remain exceptional.
Coordinate day-of communication between clients and in-house departments, including food & beverage, audiovisual, engineering, operations, housekeeping, and security as needed.
Monitor event timelines to ensure activities are running according to schedule.
Respond promptly to client requests and resolve operational issues with professionalism and urgency.
Communicate event changes or service needs to the appropriate departments.
Ensure compliance with safety, legal, and facility regulations.
Document significant event issues, client feedback, and operational notes for follow-up after the event.
Maintain a visible, professional presence throughout assigned events to ensure a high-quality guest experience.
Assist other departments as needed.
Fulfill Manager-On-Duty requirements, especially outside of business hours, making needed decisions about building and events.
Respond to event emergencies along with security to assist, collect details, and be in touch with client and management.

Qualifications

Required:

Previous experience in hospitality, banquet operations, event management, facility management or customer service.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
Comfortable coordinating multiple departments simultaneously.
Proven ability to problem-solve under pressure and adapt to changing needs.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as event schedules require.

Preferred:

Experience in a convention center, hotel, or large-scale venue environment.
Knowledge of audiovisual, catering, and production requirements.
Exceptional customer service and relationship-building skills.

Working Conditions:

Part-time position with hours based on the event schedule.
Primarily evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Requires standing and walking throughout events.
Fast-paced hospitality environment with changing priorities.

*This is a weekend/night position."

Pay: $25.00 per hour
