Full Job Description

The tag and title clerk will be responsible for the timely and accurate processing of all titles and tag documentation for all new and used car purchases. Clerk is responsible for contacting customers when conflicting information is in the deal or when issues arise that prevent timely registration of customer's car purchase.

Responsible for sending out wholesale titles with appropriate documentation to auctions.

Duties are performed primarily at a desk in an office setting. Work includes clerical and administrative responsibilities and interaction with dealership employees and customers.

Responsibilities

accurately processing tag and title registration for New and Used vehicles in a timely manner according to state guidelines.

obtaining duplicate titles

tax verification and processing out of state registration.

maintain schedule of tag work to be processed with weekly reporting of any issues

correction of tag and title documentation

maintain all MSO’s and titles.

Processes all new and used vehicles for registration in the state in which they will be titled.

Prepares tax and title documents.

Submits all legal transfer work to the Department of Motor Vehicles

Verifies that funds have been collected and the correct lienholder paid off before processing title applications.

Checks for accuracy in the application and ensures that all information is complete.

Prepares payoff checks for new vehicles and trade-ins.

Maintains a system to verify out-of-state titles.

Compiles and maintains a complete list of all outstanding title work.

Reports to management on the status of any missing or problem titles and provides a current list of outstanding titles to the comptroller at the end of month.

Signs over titles for all wholesalers who have paid in full.

Prepares a monthly report to management of any funds not collected from wholesalers due to missing or incomplete title work.

Processes yearly renewal of dealer tags in conjunction with comptroller

Stays up to date of title regulations.

Maintains a professional appearance and a neat work area.

Other tasks as assigned.
