What We’re Looking For:

The Washington Federation of State Employees (WFSE) is recruiting to fill an Associate position in Olympia, WA. This position prepares correspondence and reports, triages incoming phone calls, performs data entry in various databases, and assists Council Representatives and the Field Supervisor with administrative functions. Associates are key positions that require excellent communication and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to exercise sound judgment in evaluating situations. The Associate helps develop and implement internal office procedures and recommends changes in procedures or rules to facilitate effectiveness. This position requires sound decision-making skills when working with sensitive material and maintaining confidentiality.

Additional duties include:

Create worksite lists & log event attendance in various databases.
Maintain case file and track status to keep Labor Negotiators/Council Representatives apprised of deadlines.
Prepares packets for position reallocations, steward notebooks, training packets, and Grievance Committee packets, and schedules various meetings and hearings for Council Representatives.
Assists with flyers, membership mailings, rally preparation work, and the bi-annual convention.
Coordinates and maintains grievance information in Unionware & other record-keeping systems.
Verifies accuracy of records and works with field staff to ensure proper documentation is recorded.
Confer with Labor Negotiators/Council Representatives on case status and needs.
Prepare, proof, and edit correspondence when requested.
Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

High School diploma or equivalent.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and related applications.
Detail-oriented and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent data analysis and reporting skills.
Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
One year of data entry experience.
Exceptional customer service skills.
Highly organized and capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously.
Valid WA State Driver’s License.Desirable Qualifications:
Two years of administrative experience.
Excellent interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently
Ability to work under pressure
Knowledge of the principles and procedures of office management.
Experience with managing calendars and scheduling events.
Understanding basic labor organizing principles and working experience in a Union.
Microsoft Certifications.

Special Note:

This position is overtime eligible.
Selected candidates are expected to live within commuting distance of their assigned work location and Washington state.
This position is eligible for overtime and may be required to work some weekends.
Travel is usually limited to the designated area of responsibility.
Must have a valid driver’s license.
A reference check, motor vehicle report, and a background check will be conducted as a condition of employment.
Benefits include 12 paid holidays, annual and sick leave, a $150 monthly cell phone allowance, medical/dental/vision, life and long-term disability insurance, 401K/Roth IRA, Pension Plan, personal holidays, and more.
The salary range is $50,378 to $61,574 and will be determined commensurate with experience.
