Job Overview

The Michaels Group is a growing independent insurance agency with offices in Huntington, New York and New Smyrna Beach, Florida. Both locations maintain a 5.0 Google rating, with more than 900 customer reviews and no negative reviews. Our reputation brings customers to us. There is no cold calling and no requirement to bring an existing book of business. You will work with inbound calls, referrals, online inquiries, and agency-generated leads from people who are already interested in purchasing insurance.

We offer the technology, carrier access, products, and support of a much larger brokerage, while providing the flexibility and personal environment of a smaller company. You will be able to work from home, communicate directly with the agency owner, and receive hands-on mentorship based on your experience and career goals.

Our carrier lineup includes GEICO, Progressive, Allstate, The Hartford/AARP, Travelers, and many other leading national, regional, and specialty insurance companies.

Experienced reps know how valuable it is to have this level of carrier access. You can offer companies you are proud to represent and provide customers with real choices instead of trying to make every risk fit with the same carrier.

We have options for preferred customers, standard customers, specialty risks, higher-value homes, difficult

properties, commercial businesses, and many other situations. When one company is not the right fit, we usually have another market available.

The Michaels Group can serve customers throughout the country and write business in all 50 states.

Representatives must be properly licensed in each state and for the products they sell.

The position

You will help individuals, families, property owners, and business owners compare insurance options and choose coverage that fits their needs.

This is not a traditional call-center position. We want representatives to have real conversations, provide honest recommendations, and build long-term client relationships. You will have flexibility in managing your workday while receiving the leads, technology, carrier access, and support needed to succeed.

Expected annual compensation is $80,000 to $120,000, depending on experience, production, and performance.

Our commission structure rewards strong representatives, and there is significant room for long-term growth. As the agency expands, successful team members may have opportunities to mentor new employees, develop a specialty department, manage a team, or move into a leadership position.

Requirements

Active Florida property and casualty insurance license
At least one year of insurance sales, quoting, or account-management experience preferred
Experience in personal lines, commercial lines, life, or health insurance
Additional insurance licenses are a plus
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Organized, dependable, responsive, and comfortable working independently
Reliable internet connection and a professional home workspace
Experience with carrier portals, comparative raters, or agency management systems is helpful

Responsibilities

Respond to inbound calls and online insurance inquiries
Build relationships with prospective and existing clients
Gather accurate information for quoting and underwriting
Compare options from multiple insurance carriers
Explain coverage, deductibles, and exclusions clearly
Recommend products that fit each customer's needs
Follow up with prospects and close new business
Cross-sell additional coverage when appropriate
Maintain accurate notes and activities in agency systems
Work with our quoting, service, billing, and underwriting teams
Meet production and client-retention goals
Follow carrier guidelines and insurance regulations
