Full Job Description

The Providence Revolving Fund (PRF) is a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) that provides financing to homeowners, small businesses, and developers to support historic preservation and equitable neighborhood revitalization across Rhode Island. We are seeking a part-time, hourly Finance Director to oversee our financial operations, from day-to-day accounting to strategic financial leadership, while ensuring alignment with our mission.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced nonprofit finance professional looking for a flexible, part-time role with real impact.

Schedule: Approximately 10–18 hours/week Reports to: Executive Director / CEO

Accounting and financial management

Budgeting and forecasting reports: Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and reports for internal and external stakeholders, including the board, funders, and regulatory agencies.
Accounting operations: Oversee the accounting team in daily accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, benefits, and cash management.
Cash flow management: Monitor and optimize the organization's cash flow, ensuring that there is enough cash on hand to meet operational needs.
Capital and Investment oversight: Oversee and monitor the organization's capital funds and investment portfolio, and manage cash management policies in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements.

Compliance and risk management

Regulatory compliance: Ensure the PRF complies with all financial regulations, including specific nonprofit accounting standards from the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) and requirements for the annual Form 990 filing. Compiles and files necessary Form 1099s and prepares for annual workers’ compensation audit.
Internal controls: Implement and maintain effective internal controls and financial procedures to safeguard the organization's assets and ensure the integrity of its financial information.
Annual audit: Manage the audit process and provide all necessary financial information. Serve as the primary contact for external auditors, maintain and prepare schedules, and oversee the successful and timely completion of annual audits. Ensure that the organization's financial statements adhere to U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), guided by standards from the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB).
IRS Form 990: Responsible for the accuracy, completeness, and timely filing of the organization's annual Form 990, a public document that provides a comprehensive overview of its finances, operations, and governance.
Grant and restricted funds management: Oversee grant tracking, reporting, and compliance with grant terms and conditions, as well as manage restricted and unrestricted funds.
Insurance management: Monitor and ensure that all necessary insurance policies are in effect. Serve as primary contact for insurance brokers and complete annual insurance applications, as required.
Risk assessment: Identify, assess, and mitigate financial risks, such as funding uncertainty or changes in government regulations.

Fundraising and grant management

· Grant oversight: Manage the financial aspects of grant funding, ensuring that funds are used appropriately and that all reporting requirements are met for various grantors.

Collaborative fundraising: Support grant applications, donor reporting, and alignment of financial needs with fundraising strategies.

Staff and stakeholder management

Team leadership: Lead and manage the accounting team, providing training and guidance.
Board engagement: Work closely with the Executive Director and board of directors and its finance and audit committees, providing clear, transparent financial updates.

Strategic financial leadership

Budget management: Assist the Executive Director in creating and monitoring the annual budget, including income projections and expense allocations.

Pay: $55.00 - $65.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10.0 – 18.0 per week
