Who We Are
Binks is a leader in material application technology, providing equipment and systems used to move, meter, mix, spray, and dispense paints, coatings, sealants, adhesives, and other materials. Our solutions help manufacturers improve finish quality, productivity, efficiency, and overall process performance.
Binks is seeking a Technical Sales Specialist/Sales Engineer to develop and grow sales of industrial painting and finishing equipment and systems within an assigned territory.
This is a technically focused, consultative sales role. You'll work directly with manufacturers to understand their finishing processes and challenges, identify opportunities for improvement, develop application-specific solutions, and guide customers through the evaluation and purchase of Binks products and systems.
You'll work with stakeholders ranging from plant operators and engineers to plant management, purchasing teams, corporate decision-makers, and Binks' distributor network. The ideal candidate can understand a technical challenge, develop a practical solution, and communicate its value to both technical and commercial audiences.
What You'll Do

- Develop and maintain relationships throughout customer organizations, including operators, engineers, maintenance, plant management, purchasing, and corporate decision-makers.
- Identify, qualify, and develop new opportunities for Binks painting application equipment, systems, and related solutions.
- Expand existing accounts by identifying opportunities to improve finishing quality, productivity, material utilization, and process efficiency.
- Develop strong relationships with Binks' distributor network to generate opportunities and grow territory sales.
- Maintain an active sales pipeline and develop territory and account strategies to support both current and future growth.
Technical Solutions & Applications
- Visit customer facilities to evaluate finishing processes, equipment, production requirements, and application challenges.
- Understand coating materials, application requirements, production volumes, quality expectations, and equipment constraints.
- Translate customer requirements into appropriate Binks products, equipment configurations, and technical solutions.
- Work with Binks application, engineering, product, and technical resources to develop application-specific solutions.
- Communicate technical specifications, equipment capabilities, and the advantages of proposed solutions to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Evaluate competitive technologies and provide informed comparisons based on application performance, productivity, quality, reliability, and total cost of ownership.
- Use basic AutoCAD LT capabilities to develop or modify conceptual drawings when needed to support sales efforts.
Presentations & Demonstrations
- Prepare and deliver technical and commercial presentations tailored to customer applications and business objectives.
- Conduct customer visits, equipment demonstrations, application reviews, and technical discussions throughout the sales process.
- Coordinate product and application demonstrations with Binks laboratories, application specialists, engineers, and other internal resources.
- Demonstrate how Binks technologies can address customer requirements and create measurable value.
Sales Process & Customer Support
- Qualify opportunities and understand customer requirements, decision criteria, timelines, competitive landscape, and purchasing processes.
- Develop quotations, proposals, ROI analyses, and other materials supporting the sales process.
- Manage opportunities from initial identification through technical evaluation, proposal, negotiation, and close.
- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure proposed solutions are technically sound and aligned with customer expectations.
- Help coordinate resolution of technical, quality, service, credit, or other customer concerns.
- Maintain accurate forecasts, sales activity, call reports, and customer information.
Market & Territory Development
- Monitor industry trends, customer investment activity, competitive technologies, and developments affecting industrial finishing and material application.
- Identify emerging applications and market opportunities that could support Binks growth.
- Participate in trade shows, conventions, distributor meetings, demonstrations, and other industry events.
- Share relevant market intelligence, competitive information, and customer feedback with Binks product, engineering, marketing, and leadership teams.
Travel & Compliance
- Travel approximately 50–75% throughout the assigned territory for customer and distributor visits, demonstrations, trade shows, conventions, and other business activities.
