About the Role
(This is a vegetation position in a utility arboriculture field. Vegetation experience is a must.) **Candidate must reside in Rockingham, Guilford, Alamance, Orange or Durham County.
PRF is seeking a Capital Projects Contract Forester / Work Planner to plan, coordinate, and oversee vegetation management (VM) activities tied to capital construction projects. In this role you will make sure VM work is properly scoped, permitted, and executed efficiently so construction stays on schedule — all while upholding company standards and the commitments we make to customers and property owners.
This is a field-and-planning hybrid position ideal for someone who enjoys translating construction plans into actionable work, building strong relationships with contractors and stakeholders, and keeping complex projects moving across a wide territory. The Work Planner reports to and takes direction from the Vegetation Project Manager, executing assigned field reviews, work scopes, and planning within a defined zone.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and interpret construction plans and scopes of work to determine vegetation management requirements for capital projects.
- Plan, schedule, and permit VM activities across multiple work orders and geographic areas.
- Develop and execute detailed VM plans that support construction schedules and prevent project delays.
- Collaborate with project stakeholders to define VM scope, develop cost estimates, and ensure alignment with project objectives.
- Coordinate with internal and external partners, including field coordinators, VM project managers, project managers, engineers, construction managers, and contractors.
- Notify and communicate with affected property owners and customers regarding planned VM activities.
- Secure required permissions and maintain proper documentation prior to work execution.
- Develop, assign, and manage detailed VM work scopes for contractors, including all required documentation.
- Assign and track VM-related work orders within systems such as Maximo / FMA.
- Monitor work progress and provide timely updates to project stakeholders.
- Address and resolve customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints professionally.
- Conduct quality assurance audits to ensure completed work meets company standards and specifications.
- Participate in pre-construction meetings to confirm readiness and alignment with project teams.
- Ensure all VM activities comply with specifications and fulfill commitments made to property owners.

Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of vegetation management and utility construction processes.
- ISA Certified Arborist credential or equivalent.
Pay: $22.00 - $28.00 per hour
