Full Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Supportive Services Coordinator is a new position within Out-of-School Time (OST) organizations. This position will work with OST providers to increase student accessibility to OST programs. The Coordinator will work with program staff to complete and support Student Accommodation plans. This includes connecting students and their families to the relevant supports such as connections to health resources (mental, behavior or physical), immunizations, parenting classes, benefits access, food resources, transportation, clothing, etc. This position will also support with ensuring student participants have the accessibility supports they need to participate in summer OST programs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Be trained on how to facilitate an accessible program and collaborate with Site Director on developing an inclusive environment within their OST Program.

2. Supports staff interactions with members to assist with the character and social development of individual youth, as well as building strong communication skills, while promoting the philosophy, goals, objectives, and standards of the Boys & Girls Club.

3. Coordinate staff development and implementation of intervention programs in delinquency prevention, substance abuse prevention, family crisis/life education, peer pressure, suicide, anger management, self-esteem building and other needed programs. Facilitate and collaborate on training plans for staff to ensure they have appropriate training in SEL, Behavior Management, etc.

4. Oversees on-going member interviews and charts/records, reviews, and data to ensure accuracy and completeness. Receives reports and recommendations of referrals for any signs of abuse, neglect, or depression of a member in conjunction with Club Leadership.

5. Evaluates, becomes familiar with, and acts as a liaison between the Clubs and community service agencies appropriate for referrals.

6. Works closely with local schools and other agencies to provide member resources. Performs all necessary administration work as needed.

7. Assist Student’s family with registering them for services and supports with external service providers. Inform family of appropriate community resources and develop and maintain a resource directory for students and their families.

8. Support the site director(s) with family engagement and outreach with respective case load.

9. Advocate for student & families who use English as a second language to engage in the program and obtain translation supports.

10. Attend meetings, trainings and conferences as required.

11. Assists the total staff of the agency as needed and helps implement special events as required. Is involved in decisions concerning the social welfare of Club members and their families (when appropriate). Assists in interpreting the Boys & Girls Club programs to the community where appropriate.

12. Handles other duties and responsibilities as directed or deemed necessary by the President-CEOs. This includes driving the Club van, field trips, exhibitions, fund-raisers, presentations, school visits, fundraising efforts and maintenance of building and equipment.

13. Assists the Vice President of Executive Operations, Grants & Development in the composition and submission of programmatic grant proposals and reports.

14. Meets established schedules/deadlines as part of a normal routine; accepts a variety of daily activities while maintaining high accuracy requirements.

15. Maintains confidentiality in all assignments and responsibilities.

16. Setting standards: Leadership position where performance and overall organization expectations are modeled.

General Responsibilities

1. Performs other related duties as necessary or as assigned by the CEOs, EVPs, or Leadership Team.

2. Remains flexible and adaptable in work schedules and work assignments as defined by departmental and organizational needs.

3. Represents Boys & Girls Clubs of Philadelphia in a manner that conveys professionalism, confidentiality, courtesy, fairness, personal integrity, and respect for others.

QUALIFICATIONS

A. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

BA/BS in Social Work or a closely related field (i.e., related fields are social services, sociology, psychology, theology, education, criminal justice, human services, and public administration). Candidates nearing the completion of their degree may apply.
Experience in in early intervention, early childhood special education, social work, early childhood education, child development, special education, family counseling, family studies, social welfare, psychology or other comparable social sciences
One or more years of experience working with or providing services to children, families, or individuals with disabilities through care coordination or case management.
Experience preferred working in a School/day program setting with students, facilitating meetings, and working in groups.
Other preferred experiences are speaking and writing in a second language; ASL, and skills related to cultural or adaptive areas are also preferred.

B . SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Demonstrated ability to communicate in writing and verbally to persons of all levels
Must possess confidential child interview skills
Ability to work independently and efficiently without direct supervision
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of students in a diverse community.
Experience implementing trauma informed activities that support behavioral health or social emotional learning
Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
Ability to monitor, assess and record student progress against accommodation plan, and adjust plans and services.
Knowledge of community health care and vocational services.
Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate service and accommodation plans for children.
Problem solving skills and ability to multi-task
Bilingual preferred
