Full Job Description

Our client, BMZ-USA, is looking to hire a Staff Accountant. BMZ-USA is a division of BMZ Battery Solutions Group, a global leader in Lithium-Ion battery innovation. Working with the Financial Controller, this position will manage the daily accounts receivable and payable functions and assist with general accounting tasks. Strong communication skills, attention to detail and being highly organized in a fast-paced environment will be critical for this position.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Staff Accountant is responsible for processing transactions and maintaining accurate balances for Accounts. Payable and Accounts Receivable. A qualified candidate will have good communication skills and experience processing a high volume of transactions, including experience with purchase orders. Additional duties include credit card reconciliations, vendor account reconciliations, intercompany reconciliations and preparation of vendor and customers account statement reports.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable:

Organize, review and process payment for approved vendor invoices.
Work with managers to resolve any issues, including those missing proper approval or support.
Organize and maintain copies of supporting vouchers, invoices or correspondence in vendor files.
Setup and maintain vendor files, including contracts and tax information.
Prepare vouchers listing invoice number, date, vendor address, item description, amounts and coding per accounting policies and procedures.
Process and send invoices to customers timely.
Process customer receipts daily.
Communicate with management and customers to ensure timely payment of outstanding invoices.

General Accounting:

Reconcile bank accounts daily with A/P and A/R transactions. Create and deliver reports to other departments as needed.
Consistently monitor A/R and A/P Aging reports, identifying and communicating trends to the Controller.
Ensure compliance with local accounting standards (GAAP).
Actively investigate and resolve irregularities in both incoming and outgoing payments.
Assist in both internal and external audits, ensuring financial records are in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Support the Financial Controller on various financial and operational tasks, including special projects, ad-hoc analysis, and reporting.
Other duties as assigned by the Financial Controller.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business preferred.
Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, preferably within a manufacturing or production environment.
Proven experience in AP and/or AR.
Excellent attention to detail, strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.

VALUED BUT NOT REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Experience in QuickBooks, Microsoft Dynamics or similar ERP preferred.
Bi-lingual.

Working hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm EST., Monday through Friday; occasional overtime and weekend hours may be required. The noise levels in some manufacturing facilities frequently may exceed the normal dBA. Work conditions may include elevated noise levels requiring hearing protection. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to some mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and risk of electrical shock.

The employee may be required to wear safety glasses and possibly hearing protection, as well as proper grounding equipment to eliminate the chance of electro-static discharge.

The employee is expected to adhere to all company policies and to act as a role model in the adherence to policies.
