At Bakes & Kropp Fine Cabinetry, our passion is to Set the Standard for Excellence, and our niche is to Design and Build Exceptional Cabinetry. We create luxury custom cabinetry for discerning clients across the country, and we're looking for an experienced Purchasing & Inventory Control Manager to help ensure our operations run efficiently and our projects stay on schedule.

About the Role

This is a full-time, salaried position based at our Mount Clemens, Michigan manufacturing facility. The Purchasing & Inventory Control Manager leads purchasing, procurement, inventory control, and material planning across the organization. Working closely with Engineering, Production, Design, Installation, Accounting, and Leadership, this role ensures materials are available at the right quality, quantity, cost, and time while driving supplier performance, inventory accuracy, and operational efficiency. The Purchasing & Inventory Control Manager leads purchasing, procurement, inventory control, and material planning across the organization. Working closely with Engineering, Production, Design, Installation, Accounting, and Leadership, this role ensures materials are available at the right quality, quantity, cost, and time while driving supplier performance, inventory accuracy, and operational efficiency.

Key ResponsibilitiesPurchasing & Supplier Management

Source materials, hardware, and manufacturing supplies.
Build and maintain strong supplier relationships.
Negotiate pricing, terms, freight, and supplier agreements.
Monitor supplier performance and resolve quality, delivery, and warranty issues.
Identify alternative suppliers to reduce supply chain risk.
Maintain supplier documentation, including Safety Data Sheets (SDS), product specifications, certifications, and compliance records for purchased materials.

Inventory & Material Planning

Maintain accurate inventory levels and valuation.
Establish inventory controls, reorder points, and safety stock levels.
Forecast material requirements based on production schedules.
Lead cycle counts and annual physical inventories.
Investigate inventory discrepancies and reduce excess or obsolete inventory.

Operations Support

Ensure material availability supports production and installation schedules.
Monitor long lead-time items and communicate supply risks proactively.
Coordinate material substitutions when needed.
Collaborate across departments to keep projects on schedule.

Continuous Improvement

Analyze purchasing and inventory data to identify cost-saving opportunities.
Improve purchasing procedures, inventory controls, and workflows.
Support Lean Manufacturing, 5S, EOS scorecards, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Maintain purchasing SOPs and vendor documentation.

Qualifications Required

Five or more years of purchasing, procurement, inventory management, or supply chain experience.
Manufacturing experience, preferably in cabinetry, millwork, woodworking, furniture, construction, or a related industry.
Strong negotiation, analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Proficiency with Work Operations systems preferably Monday.com, QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Office.
Ability to manage multiple priorities with exceptional attention to detail.

Preferred

Experience in custom cabinetry, architectural millwork, luxury furniture, or engineered-to-order manufacturing.
Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement experience.
