Job Duties

About the Position:

The Virginia State Police (VSP) is seeking to hire a Master Fingerprint Technician in our Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Division at our Administrative Headquarters in North Chesterfield, Virginia. The job duties for this position include but are not limited to:

Examining, comparing, identifying, classifying, searching and filing both printed and electronic fingerprints and palm prints in the Henry system, and Integra-ID Integrated Biometric Workstation (IBW) utilizing Multimodal Biometric Identification System (MBIS) and Archival systems.
Providing technical assistance to local agency personnel on automated fingerprint submissions and fingerprint record requests.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge of:

Fingerprint classification and search methodologies using the Modified Henry System and the MBIS.
Criminal court proceedings.

Skill in:

Use of Microsoft Office Applications to complete work activities.

Ability in/to:

Work independently.
Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Testify in court.
Follow written and oral instructions and procedures.
Pay close attention to detail in technical and concise work.
Three years’ experience as a Fingerprint Technician Senior.
Experience in examining, comparing, and classifying fingerprints.
Current VCIN limit access certification.
Graduation from high school or equivalent.

Additional Considerations

Three years’ experience as a Fingerprint Technician Senior preferred.
