Full Job Description

Schedule: Monday to Friday (40 hours per week)
Hours: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Holiday Requirement: Must be available to work holidays as needed

POSITION SUMMARY: the primary purpose of your job position is to perform the day-to-day activities of the Housekeeping Department in accordance with current federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations governing Lasell Village, and as directed by the Housekeeping Manager, to assure that the facility is maintained in a clean, safe, and comfortable manner. Quality customer service is a top priority for everyone at the Village.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Administrative

Ensure that work/cleaning schedules are followed closely as practical
Report all accidents/incidents to your supervisor no matter how minor they may be. (NOTE: such occurrences must be reported on the shift in which they occur)
Attend in-service training, Relias trainings and staff meetings as directed or called
Perform specific tasks in accordance with daily work assignments.

Housekeeping Services

Perform day to day housekeeping functions as assigned
Perform specific tasks in accordance with daily work assignments
Report stains on carpet as well as any other areas needing attention in the common areas.

Safety and Sanitation

Follow established fire safety policies and procedures
Follow established safety precautions when performing tasks and when using equipment and supplies.
Follow sanitation policies as directed by supervisor
Hair longer than shoulders must be tied back and secure and nails kept short for cleanliness and safety
Safety glasses must be worn when high dusting or handling cleaning products.

Equipment and Supply Functions

Ensure that housekeeping cart is kept neat and adequately stocked with supplies to perform daily tasks
Keep supervisor informed of supply needs
Report burned out light bulbs, exit lights, overhead lights, fluorescent lights, room call lights, etc., to your supervisor as soon as practical
Assist others in lifting heavy equipment, supplies, etc., as directed or requested
Clean work/supply carts, equipment, etc., as necessary or directed
Ensure that equipment is cleaned and properly stored at the end of the shift.

Resident Rights

Maintain the confidentiality of resident information
Knock before entering a resident’s room
Honor the residents’ personal and property rights
Inform resident when it is necessary to move his/her personal possessions during cleaning procedures.

Miscellaneous

Turn in all found articles to your supervisor
Works in all areas of the facility
Works beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary, as well as in other positions as needed
Is subject to call-back during emergency conditions (e.g. severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster, etc.)
May be required to work on shifts other than the one for which hired.

JOB SKILLS:

Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language
Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with staff, residents, residents aides, family members, visitors, government agencies/staff, and the general public
Thrive in a team environment and work well with others
Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle challenging residents/associates.

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Must be able to move, position and/or lift a minimum of thirty (50) pounds
Must be able to ascend/descend stairs
May be exposed to blood, body fluids, infectious diseases, air contaminants (including tobacco smoke) and hazardous chemicals.
Lasell Village is a pet friendly community; you may be exposed to animal hair or dander.
