Coordinator- Activity
The job of Coordinator- Activity is done for the purpose/s of providing support within the student transportation services area with specific responsibilities for monitoring the support systems required to meet the transportation operation scheduling demands; providing resource information from a variety of sources; and collecting and referring information relating to transportation system operations.
This Job reports to Assigned Supervisor

Administers computerized transportation system (e.g. answer inquiries, refers problems to data processing or vendor, installs new software, beta tests, etc.) for the purpose of providing system support to transportation services.

Audits activity/field trips (e.g. verify stops, time, mileage, etc.) for the purpose of making recommendations concerning trip changes, optimization, and timing.

Communicates with drivers and others (e.g. reviewing trip details, responding to inquiries, etc.) for the purpose of assisting with trip related problems.

Compiles trip statistics (e.g. mileage, driver time, student count, stop addresses, number of days run, bus capacity, etc.) for the purpose of meeting established reporting requirements.

Evaluates trip requests for the purpose of ensuring trips are in compliance with school safety schedules, policies, and mandated guidelines.

Maintains trip descriptions and trip documentation for the purpose of providing an up-to-date reference.

Maintains data in scheduling system (e.g. school and employee data, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring accurate and complete information is available.

Participates in unit meetings, in-service training, workshops, etc. for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job functions.

Performs the function of dispatcher as required for the purpose of ensuring the role of dispatcher is always available to serve drivers.

Prepares reports for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, conveying information, and/or complying with established guidelines.

Provides the functions of bus driver when required for the purpose of ensuring bus are able to transport students.

Recommends trip additions, adjustments, and/or consolidations resulting from student needs (e.g. new developments, road closures, etc.) for the purpose of providing efficient and safe trips.
Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications
SKILLS are required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: reading maps; operating standard office equipment including utilizing pertinent software applications; and planning and managing projects.
KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios; read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: regulations regarding use of transportation vehicles, routing, mapping, etc.
ABILITY is required to schedule activities; gather, collate, and/or classify data; and use job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to independently work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; analyze data utilizing a variety of complex processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a wide diversity of individuals; work with data of varied types and/or purposes; and utilize a variety of job-related equipment. Independent problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data frequently requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is moderate. Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: communicating with diverse groups; working as part of a team; and working with detailed information/data.
Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision using standardized practices and/or methods; directing other persons within a small work unit; operating within a defined budget. The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 50% sitting, 20% walking, 30% standing. The job is performed under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness and in some varying atmospheric conditions.
Experience: Job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is required.
