Job Requirements
A Day in the Life of a Client Services Tech

The Client Services Tech answers a multi-line switchboard or PBX system quickly, directs callers to their destination and dispatches lab couriers. Provides clients with specimen collection information, test results, and does first line troubleshooting for laboratory issues. Collaborates with all members of the health care team to provide timely quality service.

Here is What You Will Be Doing:

Provides prompt, courteous, and professional customer service to all internal and external clients.
Handles daily incoming/outgoing phone calls using PBX system and responds to email inquiries. Triages complaints and informs appropriate leadership.
Uses resources to provide first line support and troubleshoot laboratory issues.
Provides basic specimen collection information and releases patient results to appropriate health care staff.
Monitors work lists to ensure panic values and call or fax requests are completed promptly according to policy and procedure. Obtains panic value readback and records pertinent information in the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
Manages multiple data bases and spreadsheets as needed to ensure documentation is accurate and complete.
Dispatches couriers and phlebotomists using mobile dispatch system.
Notifies patients of specimen issues and coordinates recollection as necessary.
Assists with laboratory billing efforts by ensuring physician orders contain complete diagnoses, provider, and guarantor information.
Conducts quality control (QC) on physician orders/requisitions. Scans and files documents in electronic health record (EHR). Performs follow up and renewal of orders as needed.
Ensures independent health fair results are reported according to agreement with sponsoring organization.
Coordinates with client management to ensure current and prospective client relationships are developed and maintained.
Performs administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, preparing correspondence, and generating reports.
Covers Lab Couriers and other positions as appropriate/needed.
Participates on teams and committees, contributes to process improvement, and collaborates with others to improve departmental efficiency.

Desired Skills:

Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to positively interact with individuals of varying cultures and backgrounds
Ability to demonstrate an independent work initiative, sound judgment and attention to detail
Proficient MS Office, Outlook and Internet Explorer skills
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Basic knowledge of medical terminology

Here is What You Need:

High school diploma (or Equivalent Certificate from an accredited program) or higher degree
One (1) or more years of customer service experience

Nice to Have:

Clinical laboratory experience
PBX/switchboard experience
