Job Requirements
A Day in the Life of a RN Operating Room Service Coordinator

Responsible for their surgical discipline, to include the planning, organizing, facilitating, and monitoring activities and functions of their service line; coordination of instrumentation, equipment and related trials, supplies and implants, and staff for their specific service line.

Here is What You Will Be Doing:

All duties and functions of Operating Room RN role.
Assists Director in planning and developing the capital budget.
Collaborates with the surgical team to orient and educate all new and current employees.
Oversees charge entry for their surgical discipline to ensure all charges are captured.
Maintains adequate and efficient par levels for all service supplies, implants, equipment and instruments.
Ensures all instruments, supplies and equipment for their surgical discipline are in good working order.
Follows protocol for new product entry process in Perioperative services.
Uses Values Analysis processes when new items are needed/requested. Collaborates with Material Management and Perioperative leadership when making product/stock decisions. Participates in product evaluation and vendor quote requests.
Facilitates repair requests to ensure continuous maintenance and repair of the surgical services equipment.
Proactive in working with physicians to minimize unnecessary use of hospital resources.
Facilitates continuing education, orientation and training for new and current staff. Provides ongoing communication to staff members concerning updates and changes.
Attends, represents and participates in business operational meetings as needed and requested.
Promotes and participates in LEAN practices and strategies.

Good communication skills with staff, other supervisory personnel, coworkers and other hospital departments
Speaks clearly, precise eye/hand coordination and computer skills
Attention to details, ability to assess, evaluate, explain, teach, problem solve, uses critical thinking and performs calculations within the scope of duties
Able to handle many stressors simultaneously
Leadership abilities to facilitate and participate in physician and staff projects and presentation skills for management level audiences
Understands target staffing standards
Understands the need to flex staffing to volume to support a financially stable department

Here is What You Need:

Associate’s degree or higher from an accredited school of nursing
License (must meet one of the following):
Current Wyoming Registered Nurse (RN) License from the Wyoming State Board of Nursing
Current enhanced Nurse Licensure (eNLC)
14 Days: Cheyenne Regional AHA RQI within fourteen (14) calendar days of start date

Nice to Have:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school of nursing within three years of hire
Prior experience in healthcare operational management within the operating room or similar complex healthcare environment
