Full Job Description

SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST & BEHAVIORAL SPECIALIST

POSITION SUMMARY

The School Psychologist and Behavioral Specialist will play a vital role in helping students achieve academic success and develop positive behavioral patterns within Wyoming school districts. This unique position combines expertise in school psychology and behavioral interventions. You will collaborate with our team, school staff, families, and students to develop and implement comprehensive plans that address both academic and behavioral needs. As an expert on Wyoming's special education eligibility criteria, you will also be responsible for conducting child-find evaluations to identify students who may qualify for special education services.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

● Collaboration and Professional Development:

○ Work collaboratively with school staff (building administrators, teachers,

paraprofessionals) to promote positive student behavior and academic success.

○ Develop and deliver professional development workshops targeting

research-based strategies, modeling instructional practices, and supporting staff

implementation of positive behavior interventions and supports (PBIS).

● Assessment and Intervention:

○ Conduct comprehensive psychoeducational assessments, following Wyoming's

Child Find requirements, to identify student needs related to behavior, learning,

and social-emotional development. This may include evaluations in areas such as:

■ Academic Achievement (reading, writing, math)

■ Cognitive Abilities

■ Language Skills

■ Social-Emotional Development

■ Adaptive Behavior

■ Vision and Hearing (when necessary)

○ Analyze evaluation data to determine eligibility for special education services

under IDEA and Wyoming Department of Education (WDE) guidelines, with a

focus on the following disability categories:

■ Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

■ Deaf-Blindness

■ Deafness

■ Emotional Disability (ED)

■ Hearing Impairment

■ Intellectual Disability (ID)

■ Other Health Impairment (OHI)

■ Specific Learning Disability (SLD)

■ Speech or Language Impairment

■ Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)

■ Visual Impairment (VI)

○ Develop and implement effective interventions for students experiencing

academic or behavioral difficulties. This may include individual interventions,

classroom-wide strategies, or collaboration with other professionals to support

students' needs.

○ Collaborate with teachers and staff to develop and implement behavior

intervention plans (BIPs) that address student needs within the school setting.

Utilize knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles to design

effective interventions.

● Consultation and Support:

○ Assist teachers and staff in developing strategies for managing challenging

behaviors, teaching social-emotional skills, and supporting students with learning

differences.

○ Provide consultation and support to families to help them understand their child's

needs and develop strategies for success at home.

○ Participate in school meetings (MTSS, IEP, 504, etc.) as appropriate to discuss

student progress and develop collaborative support plans.

● Data Collection and Analysis:

○ Demonstrate expertise in data collection and analysis related to student behavior

and academic performance.

○ Use data to monitor progress, evaluate the effectiveness of interventions, and

make data-driven decisions.

● Communication and Collaboration:

○ Maintain clear and professional communication with school staff,

parents/guardians, and administrators.

○ Develop strong collaborative relationships with school staff to ensure effective

strategies are implemented across all environments to promote student progress

and generalization.

○ Maintain accurate records of evaluations, interventions, and meetings.

REQUIREMENTS

● Master's Degree in School Psychology or related field.

● State Licensure as a School Psychologist.

● Experience working in a school setting, preferably with a focus on behavior

interventions.

● Strong knowledge of child development, learning theories, positive behavior

interventions and supports (PBIS), and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles.

● Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

● Proficiency in data collection and analysis.

● Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

● Ability to travel throughout the state of Wyoming to perform evaluations and support

school districts.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $50.00 - $60.00 per hour
