JOB SUMMARY:
The Public Relations Manager coordinates and collaborates on LCCC’s public relations, media relations, and strategic communications efforts to support the College’s mission, community engagement, and institutional reputation. As a key member of the Marketing & Communications team, this role develops and executes proactive strategies that enhance visibility and strengthen relationships with internal and external stakeholders. The position supervises professional staff and serves as the designated backup to the Vice President, Communications & External Relations for media inquiries. Working closely with the Director of Marketing & Communications and campus departments, the Public Relations Manager ensures consistent messaging, compelling storytelling, and effective communication that advances institutional priorities.

Coordinates Public Relations Strategy and Team Operations by providing leadership, direction, and oversight to ensure the successful execution of communications initiatives that advance institutional goals and enhance organizational visibility.

Leads and develops the public relations team by establishing priorities, assigning and monitoring projects, fostering professional growth, and promoting a collaborative, service-oriented culture focused on excellence.

Ensures communications and public relations projects are delivered on time, within scope, and in alignment with institutional objectives while coordinating efforts across the broader Marketing & Communications department for consistency and efficiency.

Supports strategic communication outcomes through content development, and research of industry trends, media opportunities, and competitive positioning to strengthen recruitment efforts and institutional reputation.
Serves as the Primary Writer and Editorial Resource for the Marketing & Communications Department to ensure high-quality, consistent, and effective communications that support institutional priorities, strengthen brand reputation, and engage key audiences.

Develops and produces a wide range of communication materials, including but not limited to news releases, feature stories, advertising copy, and promotional materials that advance institutional goals and increase visibility.

Serves as a departmental resource on writing standards and messaging best practices to ensure consistency, clarity, and alignment with the College’s brand and voice.

Reviews, edits, and proofreads institutional communications and publications, collaborating with team members to ensure accuracy, quality, and adherence to brand standards across all communication channels.
Provides leadership for Digital Communications and Content Strategy to enhance institutional visibility, strengthen audience engagement, and ensure consistent, effective communication across web, digital, and social media channels.

Working with team members ensures the College’s website and digital communication platforms to ensure content is accurate, accessible, user-focused, and aligned with institutional branding and messaging standards.

Uses analytics, engagement data, and emerging digital trends to guide website and social media strategies, expand audience reach, improve communication effectiveness, and support institutional priorities during key events and critical communications.
Coordinates and Supports Public Relations and Media Relations Initiatives to advance institutional communications goals and promote positive awareness of the College among internal and external audiences.

Supports the implementation of public relations strategies that promote the College's mission, strategic priorities, programs, and accomplishments.

Assists in building and maintaining relationships with local, regional, and industry media outlets to increase awareness and support positive media coverage opportunities.

Coordinates and supports media interviews, press conferences, public announcements, and special events, while monitoring media coverage and identifying opportunities to strengthen the College's public presence and reputation
