Summary

Doula Home Visitor Support Specialist play an essential role in working with families to help lay a foundation. A doula is trained and experienced in helping the mother prepare for the birth. By working to develop a birthing plan that provides educational resources related to birthing process, what happens before and after giving birth, and emotional support to balance life changes. As well as offering support services related to health, safety, and nutrition for mother and child.

Duties and Responsibilities

* Conducts developmental screenings
* Training in Early Head Start Standards
* Willing to receive Doula certifications and training
* Trained in a strength-based curriculum- Community-Based Family Administered Neonatal Activities
* Continuously assesses a child’s progress by collecting, aggregating, and analyzing data on an ongoing basis
* Plans and offers productive socialization experiences for mother and child by providing the mother with emotional, physical, moral, and educational support, especially when the father and other close relatives are unavailable.
* Being an active listener to the mother's concerns and questions in a kind, empathic way. Along with offering the best professional advice and resources that support aspirations or concerns.
* Attending prenatal meetings to get to know the mother and establish her birth preferences and other requirements.
* Remaining with the mother throughout labor and providing physical and emotional support during and after childbirth.
* Home visits to follow and track the health and well-being of the mother and child, and aid with the care of the baby while the mother heals.
* Providing practical support and advice to the mother after childbirth, like helping with medical visits, self-care, assisting with breastfeeding, and meal preparation.
* Monitoring childbirth support, birthing techniques, and pre-and post-natal care, and all resources to support in networking with other Doulas and mothers, attending workshops and lectures, which support the health, safety, and nutrition of mother and child.
* Tracking and monitoring all data information with the use of a data tracking system.
* Participates in staffing of all families with an Infant Mental Health Consultant
Attends family support team meetings, staff meetings, staff training, collaborations, and planning meetings
* Must be available to service families 24/7
* All other duties as assigned
* Maintains records and documents services according to schedule.
* Enter service data into the organization's online data system.
* Assist with offering long-term home visiting services until the child turns 3 years of age.

Qualifications

* REQUIRED: Home Visitor CDA w/ Gateways Family Specialist Credentials, Infant Toddler Credentials, with Associate's / Bachelor’s degree.
* Preferred Home Visitor CDA w/ AA-BA degree in infant toddler care, child development, social work, psychology, or a related field. Along with Gateways
* Family Specialist Credentials, and Infant Toddler Credentials.
* Gateways Family Specialist Credentials Level 3 - Level 5
* Gateways Infant Toddler (IT) Level 3 - Level 5
* Experience working with families and children in a home setting
* Knowledge of community resources and services
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work independently and manage a caseload
* Familiarity with case management software
* CPR First Aid Certification Training
* Flexible schedule and ability to work evenings or weekends as needed
* Experience in social services or healthcare
* Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
