Founded in 1990 and based in Chicago, IL, Pekin Hardy Strauss Wealth Management is an independent wealth and investment management firm.

The Role

We are looking to add an Investment Technology & AI Analyst to our team. This is a broad, hands-on role for a versatile generalist who enjoys learning new systems, taking ownership of unfamiliar problems, and moving among investment operations, portfolio manager support, data analysis, and practical AI implementation.

You will be trained to prepare portfolio managers for account review meetings and execute data mining, automation, and AI projects across research, compliance, marketing, and other parts of the business. Experience at an investment firm is a plus, but not required, and prior trading experience is not required.

The ideal candidate will be highly detail-oriented, comfortable with software, curious about investing and business processes, and able to turn loosely defined problems into reliable, well-documented solutions. Practically speaking, you will:

· Gather, verify, organize, and summarize account and portfolio information for portfolio managers preparing for account review meetings, flagging items that require attention.

· Mine and analyze internal and external data to support investment research, compliance monitoring, marketing, and business decisions.

· Use AI coding assistants such as Claude and Codex to build and improve lightweight internal tools, scripts, dashboards, automations, and workflows.

· Identify repetitive or data-intensive processes and translate them into practical technology and AI solutions.

· Test and validate outputs, document processes, maintain data quality, protect confidential information, and assist with other investment, operational, and analytical projects as needs arise.

· Serve as the trained backup for our trading desk and assume responsibility for its day-to-day operation during vacations and other absences, following established procedures and controls.

Qualifications

· Exceptional attention to detail, reliability, and follow-through.

· Self-motivated, adaptable, and intellectually curious, with a demonstrated ability to learn quickly, take ownership of unfamiliar problems, and move comfortably among different kinds of work.

· Comfort with AI-assisted "vibe coding": using Claude and Codex to translate a business problem into a working prototype, then debugging, validating, and documenting the result. A traditional software engineering background is not required.

· Strong comfort with software and data, including Excel; familiarity with Python, SQL, APIs, business intelligence tools, or workflow automation is helpful.

· Sound judgment and the ability to remain calm and accurate in time-sensitive operational settings and follow controlled procedures precisely.

· Clear written and verbal communication, sound problem-solving instincts, and a willingness to pitch in wherever needed.

· Interest in investing, wealth management, and how an advisory business works. Experience at an investment management, wealth management, or other financial services firm is a plus, but not required. Prior trading experience is not required.

· Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
