Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will be the first point of contact for patients and visitors, providing exceptional administrative support while ensuring smooth clinic operations. Your energetic approach and strong organizational skills will help create a welcoming environment, manage appointment scheduling, verify insurance information, and handle medical records with precision. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to patient care excellence while utilizing your comprehensive knowledge of medical office procedures and systems.

Responsibilities

Greet patients warmly and professionally, ensuring a positive first impression
Schedule appointments efficiently using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth
Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance eligibility checks including Medicare and Medicaid processes
Manage patient check-in and check-out procedures, including intake documentation and data entry
Handle multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette, directing calls appropriately
Maintain accurate medical records, files, and documentation review to ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations
Process billing and collections related to medical services using medical coding (CPT, ICD-10/ICD-9) and billing systems
Support clinical staff with administrative tasks such as preparing care plans and updating health information management systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft
Assist in insurance verification, claims submission, and follow-up on unpaid accounts
Ensure confidentiality of patient information at all times in accordance with HIPAA standards

Experience

Prior clinic or medical office experience is highly preferred, especially in a front desk or administrative support role
Strong knowledge of EMR/EHR systems such as Epic.
Familiarity with medical billing, coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), CPT coding, and insurance processes including Medicare verification
Experience handling dental terminology is a plus for dental clinic environments
Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and typing skills including 10 key typing
Bilingual abilities are highly valued to serve diverse patient populations effectively
Demonstrated customer service skills with the ability to manage multi-line phone systems and provide outstanding patient service
Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and health information management practices
Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
