Full Job Description

Overview

Scholas USA is seeking a passionate and engaging Part-Time Youth Educator & Facilitator to support our educational programs with high school students across partner schools in the Chicago area.

This role is ideal for an educator or youth professional who believes in the power of relationships, dialogue, creativity, and experiential learning. The facilitator will become a consistent presence within our partner school communities, creating spaces where teens can connect, express themselves, build confidence, and strengthen their sense of belonging.

The position involves direct facilitation with students as well as session preparation, coordination with school moderators, and ongoing collaboration with the Scholas USA Programs team.

Responsibilities

Facilitate engaging Scholas Club sessions and educational experiences with high school students across partner schools in the Chicago area.
Build meaningful and trusting relationships with students and create inclusive spaces where young people feel heard, valued, and encouraged to participate.
Implement and adapt Scholas' educational methodology and curriculum using dialogue, art, play, reflection, and collaborative activities.
Prepare activities and materials prior to each session.
Coordinate with school moderators and the Scholas USA team around scheduling and program implementation.
Participate in a weekly 30-minute team check-in for planning, reflection, and program follow-up.
Support basic documentation and evaluation of the educational process at each school.
Help prepare and accompany students for inter-school encounters and other Scholas experiences throughout the school year.
Represent Scholas' values and educational approach within each partner school community.

Qualifications

Experience working with teenagers in educational, youth development, community, nonprofit, pastoral, or similar settings.
Experience facilitating groups, workshops, or participatory learning experiences.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to build meaningful relationships with young people.
Ability to create welcoming, inclusive, and participatory environments.
Creative, flexible, reliable, and comfortable adapting activities to different groups and school contexts.
Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with a broader program team.
Ability and willingness to travel to partner high schools across Chicago and the surrounding area, including Mundelein.

Experience with experiential education, arts-based education, restorative practices, social-emotional learning, community engagement, or youth leadership is a plus.

Spanish proficiency is a plus, but not required.

Schedule & Compensation

Part-time: approximately 20–24 hours per month
Hours vary based on school schedules and program activities.
Compensation: $30 per hour
Approved program-related mileage will be reimbursed.
In-person work at partner high schools across the Chicago area.
