About the Club:

At The Birchwood Club, you have an opportunity to be a Salad Prep Cook at one of North Shore’s Premier Clubs. We pride our Club in giving exceptional service without skipping a beat. With a curated menu of Pub fare and Fine Dining, our members can seek a romantic dinner, a casual gathering with friends, or a quick cocktail at 1 of our 2 bars. Club Events and Private Events are popular all year round. The pool offers memories to be made and summer fun for the whole family providing poolside dining experience. The Club has 26 racquet courts between Tennis, Pickleball and Paddleball which offers a challenge and camaraderie amongst the fellow members.

Salad Prep Cook Position Overview:

Please note - all candidates will go through 2-stage interview process.

We are looking for Salad Prep Cook who are punctual, reliable, and strong team player. We value individual who don’t make excuses, don’t call off work, and are always willing to learn and improve. Title: Salad Prep Cook

Reports to: Sous Chef

Supervises: No supervisory duties are included in this position.

Classification:

Education and/or Experience

· Must be 18 years of age or older.

· Must have at least 3 years of culinary work experience in dining restaurants.

· Must be able to read order tickets in English and communicate with service staff.

Job Knowledge, Core Competencies and Expectations

· Possesses technical skills needed to fulfill required job duties. Must have sound knowledge of menu and abbreviation. Must possess skills to determine taste, doneness, presentation, timing and product utilization.

· Must have the knowledge of basic culinary fundamentals.

· Prioritizes work to ensure immediate needs are met. Tries to accommodate reasonable special requests by members and their guests.

· Knowledge of and ability to perform required role during emergency situations.

Job Summary (Essential Functions)

Prepares salads, hot and cold food in accordance with club standard recipes. Making the dishes for the line.

Job Tasks/Duties

· Prepares all salad items before each shift; washes and cuts lettuce, vegetables, fruits, meats, etc., and maintains product levels during service hours.

· Prepares salads, hot and cold items for special functions.

· Prepares salad dressings and bake desserts.

· Makes sandwiches according to club’s standard recipes.

· Cleans equipment and ensures that pantry area refrigerator and walk-in are clean and neat.

· Sets-up, maintains and breaks-down salad prep station.

· Identifies products needed and requisitions them.

· Notifies Sous Chef or Executive Chef in advance of product shortages.

· Covers, dates and neatly stores re-usable leftover products.

· Ensures that food products are used before they spoil.

· Attends kitchen staff meetings.

· Prepares and serves items in accordance with established portion and presentation standards.

· Makes recommendations for the maintenance, repair and upkeep of the salad areas and equipment.

· Performs other appropriate tasks as assigned by Sous Chef.

Licenses and Special Requirements

· Food safety certification (ServSafe)

Physical Demands and Work Environment

· Required to stand for long periods and walk, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch and twist or reach in cooler.

· Push, pull or lift 50 pounds.

· Continuous repetitive motions.
