Full Job Description

Inside Sales and Application Engineer

We are looking for an entry-level engineer to join our Inside Sales team who has that same passion, that same spirit, and these values. GAM Enterprises manufactures mechanical products used in Robotics and the Factory Automation Industry. In this role, you will support our sales efforts to help land new customers, as well as support our existing customer base and external sales channel. This position will require approximately twelve months training where you will learn about our customers needs, products, and what we can do best to serve our customers, with the goal to move into an outside technical sales position based on proven performance.

This position reports directly to the Regional Sales Manager and is based at our Mount Prospect, IL headquarters.

The ideal candidate will be someone who loves talking and interacting with people and who would excel at working in our fast-paced company; where the velocity from the time of order, design, manufacture, and shipment is very high. It is also an environment where everyone makes a difference.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Inside Sales Engineer will be responsible for inside technical sales and support of all products. This includes:

Sizing and applying products to fit customer needs. Utilizing formulas to make appropriate determinations.

Interpreting customer drawings.

Managing and following up on sales leads with an emphasis on cross-selling other products.
Quoting and processing orders.
Performing product failure analysis and creating technical drawings for customer modifications.
Sales and service support to customers and agents by handling in-coming inquiries (mostly via phone and email) to ensure maximum customer satisfaction.
Serving as the in-house back-up and support to the Regional Sales Manager who is typically out of the office directly meeting with customers and prospects.

QUALIFICATIONS: The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

Bachelor of Science in General Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Physics.
An outgoing, proactive, and friendly sales personality, and a knack for thinking fast-on-your-feet.
Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to juggle and manage changing priorities.
A problem-solver with a “can-do-attitude”.
This position will be the anchor in the office for the sales team, and therefore require minimal travel.

Travel will occur to foster training and development opportunities and will occur less than 10% of the time.
