Position Title: Strategic Learning Coordinator

Reports To: Director of Professional Learning

Terms of Employment: As outlined in contract for services

Location: South Cook Intermediate Service Center 4

Purpose: This position provides leadership, coordination, and strategic support to school districts in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of high-quality professional learning opportunities aligned to district and regional priorities. This position is responsible for identifying district support needs related to educator professional learning and overseeing a team of specialists charged with assessing district needs, developing responsive service plans, and delivering impactful professional learning experiences. The Professional Learning Specialist leads the planning and execution of local teacher institute days and collaborates with district leaders, educators, and stakeholders to ensure professional learning opportunities are relevant, research-based, data-informed, and aligned with continuous school improvement efforts.

Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Education, Educational Leadership, Curriculum & Instruction, or a related field required.
Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) preferred.
Minimum of five years of successful educational experience, including teaching and/or instructional leadership experience.
Experience designing, facilitating, and evaluating professional learning for educators.
Experience leading teams, coordinating projects, or supervising staff preferred.
Knowledge of adult learning theory, instructional best practices, school improvement processes, and continuous improvement models.
Strong organizational, leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to build collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders.
Proficiency with educational technology tools, data analysis, and presentation platforms.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with multiple school districts or within a Regional Office of Education, Intermediate Service Center, or educational agency.
Experience planning large-scale educational events or institute days.
Knowledge of Illinois State Board of Education initiatives, educator licensure requirements, and professional development standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: *other duties may be assigned

Leadership & Strategic Planning

Identify opportunities to support districts in the areas of professional learning, instructional improvement, educator effectiveness, and continuous improvement.
Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with district administrators, school leaders, and educational partners to assess emerging needs and priorities.
Lead the development of regional professional learning strategies aligned with state initiatives, district goals, and evidence-based instructional practices.
Analyze district and regional data to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for targeted support services.
Support districts in creating sustainable professional learning systems that improve educator capacity and student outcomes.

Team Supervision & Coordination

Supervise and support a team of professional learning specialists responsible for conducting district needs assessments and coordinating service delivery.
Provide leadership, coaching, and direction to staff in the planning, facilitation, and evaluation of professional learning services.
Ensure alignment and consistency in the delivery of regional professional learning initiatives and district support services.
Facilitate regular team meetings and collaborative planning processes to monitor district support efforts and outcomes.
Support staff in developing innovative and responsive learning opportunities for educators and administrators.

Professional Learning & Service Delivery

Coordinate and oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of professional learning programs for educators and school leaders.
Collaborate with districts to create customized professional learning plans that align with identified needs and improvement goals.
Design and facilitate workshops, trainings, coaching cycles, and learning experiences using adult learning best practices.
Plan and oversee regional teacher institute days, including program development, speaker coordination, logistics, communication, and evaluation.
Ensure professional learning opportunities are accessible, engaging, and aligned with current educational research and standards.

Collaboration & Communication

Serve as a liaison between the regional office and school districts regarding professional learning initiatives and services.
Build partnerships with educational organizations, institutions of higher education, and community agencies to expand learning opportunities.
Communicate effectively with stakeholders regarding available services, program outcomes, and upcoming professional learning events.
Represent the regional office at meetings, conferences, committees, and statewide initiatives as assigned.

Program Evaluation & Continuous Improvement

Develop systems to evaluate the effectiveness and impact of professional learning services.
Collect and analyze participant feedback and implementation data to improve future programming.
Prepare reports, presentations, and recommendations related to professional learning initiatives and district support efforts.
Maintain accurate records and documentation related to programs, budgets, participation, and compliance requirements.

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Regularly required to talk and hear to exchange information in person and by telephone.
Frequently required to use hands and fingers to handle or operate standard office equipment.
Occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and stoop or kneel.
Must be able to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds occasionally (e.g., office supplies, files).
Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

Work is generally performed in a standard office setting with moderate noise levels (e.g., conversations, printers, phones).
The position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
Duties may involve occasional travel between work sites, schools, or off-site meetings.
Work hours are typically during the standard business day, but occasional evening or weekend work may be required for meetings or events.
The work environment is generally climate controlled and ergonomically equipped.
