POSITION SUMMARY:
The High School Theatre Teacher is responsible for developing and delivering a comprehensive theatre arts program that fosters creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, and artistic excellence. The successful candidate will provide engaging instruction in theatre performance and production while cultivating an inclusive classroom environment where students develop confidence, communication skills, and an appreciation for the performing arts.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Plan and deliver standards-based instruction aligned with state and district Fine Arts curriculum.

Teach theatre courses that may include Introduction to Theatre, Acting, Technical Theatre, Stagecraft, Theatre Production, Advanced Acting, or IB/AP Theatre.

Develop students' skills in acting, voice, movement, improvisation, directing, script analysis, and theatrical design.

Provide instruction in technical theatre, including lighting, sound, scenic construction, costumes, makeup, props, and stage management.

Direct and produce school theatrical performances, including plays, musicals, student showcases, and community performances.

Collaborate with music, dance, visual arts, and career and technical education staff to create interdisciplinary learning opportunities.

Assess student learning through authentic performance-based and written assessments.

Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.

Integrate technology to support theatre instruction and production.

Maintain a safe and organized classroom, theatre, scene shop, costume storage, and performance spaces.

Supervise students during rehearsals, performances, festivals, competitions, and field trips.

Communicate regularly with students, families, and administration regarding student progress and program activities.

Participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), department meetings, curriculum development, and ongoing professional learning.

Support the school's mission, vision, and commitment to equity and student success.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in Theatre, Theatre Education, Performing Arts, or a closely related field.

Valid state teaching certification with appropriate endorsement.

Experience directing theatrical productions at the secondary level preferred.

Knowledge of theatre history, dramatic literature, acting pedagogy, and technical theatre.

Experience managing production schedules and performance logistics.

Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
