Full Job Description

Arlington Heights high-end event venue is looking for an experienced, reliable, and professional Weekend Event Chef to lead our culinary team during weekend events at the ballroom and other off-premise locations.

This position is ideal for an experienced culinary professional who already has a full-time job and is looking for consistent weekend event work. It may also be a great opportunity for someone who wants to enter the event industry, gain banquet and event experience, and start in a part-time weekend role.

A full-time position may be considered after a full evaluation of performance, skill level, leadership ability, and business needs.

Position Overview

The Weekend Event Chef will be responsible for leading the kitchen team and executing events at the venue, including breakfast events, brunches, corporate events, social events, and weddings. This role requires strong banquet experience, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to confidently prepare, execute, and plate food for events of 100 guests or more.

The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, customer-facing, and comfortable working in a fast-paced event environment.

Schedule

Preferred availability:

Friday evenings
Saturdays, full-day availability
Sundays, full-day availability
Weekday availabilities are plus

Weekend availability is required.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the culinary team during weekend events at Metropolis Ballroom
Execute menus according to event orders, timelines, and company standards
Prepare and cook food for breakfast, brunch, corporate, social, and wedding events
Manage food production for events of 100 guests or more
Oversee grilling, cooking, finishing, and plating during service
Lead kitchen staff during setup, execution, service, and breakdown
Maintain food quality, presentation, portion control, and timing
Communicate professionally with event managers, banquet captains, service staff, and management
Represent the kitchen in a professional and customer-facing manner when needed
Ensure food safety, cleanliness, and proper kitchen organization throughout the event
Troubleshoot issues during service and make quick, effective decisions

Qualifications

Minimum of 8 years of cooking experience required
Banquet or high-volume event cooking experience strongly preferred
Prior kitchen lead, sous chef, banquet chef, or event chef experience preferred
Must be comfortable cooking for 100+ guests
Strong skills in cooking, grilling, plating, and banquet execution
Strong leadership and communication skills
Reliable, punctual, professional, and detail-oriented
Able to work in a fast-paced event environment
Able to work weekends, including Friday nights, Saturdays, and Sundays
Customer-facing professionalism is required
