Full Job Description

Overview

Seeking a collaborative, detail-oriented Surgical Aesthetic Nurse/Plastic Surgery Nurse to join our facial plastic surgery practice. This role partners closely with the surgeon to deliver exceptional patient care throughout the consultation, treatment, surgical, and recovery process. Responsibilities include assisting with in-office procedures, preparing patients for surgery and treatments, maintaining safety and sterilization standards, coordinating patient care, and supporting a seamless patient experience. As you develop within the practice, you'll have opportunities to expand your skills in advanced aesthetic techniques, including injectables, chemical peels, dermal fillers, laser treatments, and more.

Duties

Review patients medical history and determine the reason for their visit
Alert physician regarding any patient drug allergies or medical changes since their last visit
Prepare patients for their appointment with the surgeon, including room setup and treatment preparation. Remove sutures, and dressings as directed by the surgeon.
Accurately document patient encounters and assist with medical scribing during appointments.
Ensure appropriate follow-up care is scheduled by coordinating with administrative staff to get patients scheduled for their follow-up visits as needed
Primary assistant to surgeon with minor in-office procedures and treatments
Wash & sterilize surgical instruments daily and in a timely fashion
Maintain safety standards of autoclave equipment and maintenance on devices as needed
Prepare specimens to pathology/LabCorp as needed
Maintain inventory of medical supplies
Conduct pre-operative calls and patient education to ensure surgical readiness.
Review pre-operative instructions and verify that patients have obtained required prescriptions and medical clearances.
Accompany surgeon during patient appointments and assist with visit as needed
Properly dispose of sharps and biohazardous materials in accordance with OSHA regulations.
Sanitize treatment rooms and dispose of biohazardous waste between patient appointments in accordance with OSHA standards.
Responsible for answering clinical questions to the best of your ability or advancing the questions to the clinical staff/surgeon as needed to maintain patient care and safety
Ensure all required surgical consents, documentation, and medical clearances are completed prior to procedures.
Stock and organize exam and procedure rooms with necessary medical supplies and equipment.
Assist with administrative tasks delegated by Medical Director and/or Office Manager when needed
Provide backup coverage for patient inquiries and appointment scheduling as needed.
Capture standardized pre- and post-procedure patient photographs and upload them to the patient's electronic medical record.
Maintain a clean, organized, and professional workstation and assist in keeping shared work areas tidy.
Interest or experience in social media marketing, product education, and retail skincare sales is a plus.

Qualifications

Current Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license.
Current BLS/CPR certification.
Minimum of 1–2 years of nursing experience preferred; plastic surgery, dermatology, ENT, or aesthetics experience is a plus.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient education skills.
Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Strong computer skills, including experience with electronic medical records (EMRs).
Interest in facial plastic surgery, aesthetic medicine, and medical-grade skincare.
Willingness to become proficient in all surgical procedures, non-surgical treatments, and skincare products offered by the practice.
Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and provide compassionate, professional care
