Position Summary
Instavaxx Comprehensive Wound Care is seeking a compassionate and experienced Podiatrist (DPM) to join our growing team on a part-time basis (1½ days per week). This position provides specialized podiatric care, primary foot care, and lower extremity wound care services to patients in partnering skilled nursing facilities, nursing homes, and outpatient wound care clinics throughout the Chicagoland area.
The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of foot and ankle conditions while working collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and wound care specialists to improve mobility, prevent complications, and promote healing. This is an excellent opportunity for a podiatrist who enjoys caring for geriatric and medically complex patients in a flexible, rewarding practice setting.
ResponsibilitiesPodiatric & Primary Foot Care Services
- Perform comprehensive podiatric evaluations and foot examinations.
- Diagnose and treat common foot and ankle conditions.
- Provide routine foot care, including nail debridement, callus reduction, and preventive foot care.
- Evaluate and manage diabetic foot conditions and complications.
- Identify patients at risk for foot ulceration and implement preventive treatment plans.
- Recommend orthotics, off-loading devices, and footwear modifications when appropriate.
- Educate patients and caregivers on proper foot care and diabetic foot health.
Wound Care Services
- Evaluate and treat diabetic foot ulcers and lower extremity wounds.
- Develop individualized wound treatment plans based on best clinical practices.
- Perform wound debridement and other podiatric procedures as clinically appropriate.
- Monitor wound healing progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
- Collaborate with wound care physicians and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.
- Utilize advanced wound care products and evidence-based treatment modalities.
Facility & Clinical Responsibilities
- Conduct scheduled rounds at partnering skilled nursing facilities and nursing homes.
- Provide patient care at outpatient wound care clinic locations.
- Complete accurate, timely, and compliant medical documentation.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, therapists, and facility staff to coordinate patient care.
- Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and facility regulations.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives focused on wound healing, limb preservation, and fall prevention.
QualificationsRequired
- Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) degree from an accredited institution.
- Active Illinois Podiatric Medicine license in good standing.
- DEA registration (if applicable).
- Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel between nursing homes and clinic locations throughout the Chicagoland area.
Preferred
- Experience treating diabetic foot ulcers and lower extremity wounds.
- Experience performing wound debridement.
- Experience in skilled nursing facilities, long-term care, rehabilitation, or wound care clinics.
- Experience caring for geriatric and medically complex patient populations.
- Wound care certification or advanced wound care experience is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR).
