The Senior QA Analyst is responsible for ensuring the quality, stability, and scalability of the Summit application and corresponding internal (Polypaths, Workday, Salesforce, eBanking …) and external integrations (Markitwire, Bloomberg, Office of Finance (OOF), TriResolv…). This role leads quality assurance efforts across manual and automated testing, validates complex integrations, and ensures robust test data management and seeding practices. The ideal candidate brings a quality‑engineering mindset, strong Summit domain expertise, and hands-on experience with test automation and data management in multi‑org environments in a manner consistent with FHLB Chicago Software Testing Policies and Standards. This an SDET type role that combines software development + quality assurance (QA). Instead of only manually testing applications, the candidate will write code to test code
Elevate Summit quality and release confidence by designing and executing robust manual and automated test strategies for Summit and its complex integrations—ensuring stable, scalable, and defect-resistant releases.
Accelerate delivery through automation and data excellence by strengthening Selenium/Playwright and API automation frameworks while implementing reliable test data creation, masking, and refresh strategies across multi-org Summit environments. In addition to using industry standard test automation tools, the candidate will be expected to learn and use the Test Management System (TMS), a Summit proprietary test automation tool.
Reduce production risk and defects by validating accounting data, payment flows, end-to-end workflows, integrations, and data integrity using SQL and API testing, while proactively identifying issues early in the Agile lifecycle.
Strengthen QA maturity and team capability by mentoring junior QA engineers, driving best practices in quality engineering, and continuously improving QA processes, standards, and reporting through Azure DevOps.
Design, develop, and execute test strategies, test plans, test cases, and test scripts for Summit, PolyPaths, and Summit integrations
Perform functional, regression, integration, system, performance, load, and user acceptance testing (UAT)
Develop, maintain, and enhance automated test frameworks using Selenium or other test automation tools (Playwright, Postman, TMS)
Validate Summit configurations, customizations (C++), workflows, flows, and integrations with external systems
Ensure data integrity and accuracy through effective test data management practices, including data creation, masking, and refresh strategies
Identify, document, and track defects; collaborate with development teams to ensure timely resolution
Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and provide quality-related input during sprint planning and backlog refinement
Support release planning by executing smoke tests and production validation activities
Mentor junior QA analysts and promote best practices in quality engineering and automation
Continuously improve QA processes, standards, and tools to enhance test coverage and efficiency
Track and report all results, problems and defects throughout the testing cycle using Azure DevOps.
Represents testing team and participates in reviews of use cases and other requirements documentation to obtain an understanding of systems changes in preparation for test case development.
Expected to provide valuable input on process improvements.
Strong understanding of Summit platform architecture, including data flows, validation rules, and integrations.
Experience creating comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scripts for core Summit functionality.
Proficiency in SQL for backend data validation, troubleshooting, and verifying data integrity across objects.
Hands on experience with API testing (REST) using Postman or similar tools.
Ability to validate end to end workflows, data flows, and system integrations with upstream and downstream systems.
Familiarity with Summit environment, release cycles, and deployment processes.
Strong knowledge of defect logging and tracking using Azure DevOps, GitHub Enterprise Jira, or similar platforms.
Experience with object-oriented programming languages such as C++, Python, C#. Knowledge of Ansible is a plus

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
6+ years of experience in software quality assurance, ideally with at least 3+ years testing Summit applications
Strong understanding of Summit platform architecture, including standard objects, custom objects, flows, validation rules, and integrations.
Experience creating comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scripts for core Summit functionality.
Proficiency in SQL for backend data validation, troubleshooting, and verifying data integrity across objects.
Hands on experience with API testing (REST) using Postman or similar tools.
Ability to validate end to end workflows, data flows, and system integrations with upstream and downstream systems.
Familiarity with Summit environments, release cycles, and deployment processes.
