We are currently seeking a Assistant Strength Coach Intern for our Wood Dale location. This role will primarily work with Adversity Volleyball Club, one of the nation’s top-ranked volleyball organizations. You will assist in training 25+ boys’ and girls’ youth teams (ages 14–18) under the Director of Volleyball Performance. Many of our athletes go on to compete at the Division I level.

Required Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an accredited program in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology, or a related field
- Strong communication skills with both youth and adults
- Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification

- Athletic or sports background
- Experience training or coaching athletes
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in developing and implementing strength and conditioning programs tailored to athletes across various sports
- Support fitness assessments, movement screenings, and performance evaluations
- Lead warm-ups, stretching sessions, and group training activities
- Provide feedback on exercise technique to ensure safety and effectiveness
- Maintain gym cleanliness, organization, and equipment
- Track athlete progress through detailed documentation
- Participate in ongoing education related to sports science and program design
Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of exercise science principles and training fundamentals
- Interest or experience in group training and personal coaching
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and body mechanics

· Honest Communication: Communication between the athlete, coach, and parent is key. With open and honest communication, proper programming can ensure that the athlete's and parent's goals are met.

· Fun: Essential to have fun while attaining your goals through hard work. PSP will provide an atmosphere that is serious but also fun. Culture is everything.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
· Currently Enrolled or just graduated with a degree in (Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology,) from an accredited university
· Ability to communicate effectively with youth and adults
· First-Aid/CPR/AED certifications
Preferred Qualifications & Experience:
· Athlete or sports background and knowledge of Volleyball Preferred
· Experience training or coaching athletes
Duties
- Assist in developing and delivering strength and conditioning programs tailored to athletes’ needs across various sports disciplines
- Support coaches in conducting fitness assessments, movement screenings, and physiological evaluations to inform training plans
- Lead warm-up routines, stretching sessions, and group fitness classes to promote proper body mechanics and injury prevention
- Observe and provide feedback on athletes’ technique during exercises to ensure safety and effectiveness
- Help maintain gym equipment, ensure cleanliness, and organize training spaces for optimal performance environments
- Track athlete progress through detailed documentation of workouts, assessments, and performance metrics
- Participate in educational sessions on anatomy, physiology, sports science, and program design to deepen your understanding of human movement
Skills
- Strong foundation in teaching fundamentals of exercise science and fitness principles
- Experience or interest in group fitness instruction and personal training techniques
- Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and body mechanics relevant to athletic performance
- Ability to assist with program design tailored to individual athlete goals and sport-specific demands
- Passion for sports coaching with an understanding of different athletic disciplines
- Excellent communication skills to motivate and instruct diverse groups of athletes or clients
- Enthusiasm for learning about health club operations, gym safety protocols, and effective training methodologies
