Pay & Schedule
- Starting pay: $24.88/hour
- Increase to $25.61/hour after 6 months of employment
- Additional $0.60/hour for 2nd or 3rd shift
- Full-time

What You’ll Do
As a Correction Officer, you will play an important role in maintaining the safety and security of the institution, staff, incarcerated individuals, and the public.
Responsibilities include:
- Maintaining control of the institution by enforcing rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
- Supervising and directing incarcerated individual activity in assigned areas
- Ensuring assigned areas remain clean, safe, and secure
- Conducting incarcerated individual counts, security rounds, inspections, and searches
- Monitoring and operating security controls, equipment, and computers
- Completing required reports and documentation
- Preventing escapes and responding to incidents that threaten institutional safety or security
- Operating vehicles for perimeter security and transportation when assigned
- Responding appropriately to emergency situations
- When necessary, using approved physical force, unarmed self-defense techniques, firearms, or other authorized force to detain or secure incarcerated individuals
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Must successfully pass the required Correction Officer assessment or have successfully completed the assessment within the previous 24 months
- Valid driver’s license required for positions assigned to transportation
- Must meet all Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction employment requirements
- Probationary period is 365 days
Previous corrections or law enforcement experience is not required.
