WEEKEND POSITION ONLY - MUST BE ABLE TO WORK EVERY WEEKEND.

Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will be the first point of contact for patients and visitors, ensuring a welcoming environment while efficiently managing administrative tasks. Your expertise in medical administrative support, electronic health records (EHR) management, and patient service will help facilitate smooth clinic operations. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to quality patient care through exceptional front desk management, accurate documentation review, and effective communication.

Duties

Greet patients and visitors warmly, providing excellent customer service and phone etiquette.
Schedule appointments using medical scheduling software and coordinate provider calendars.
Verify insurance information, process medical collections, and handle billing inquiries with knowledge of health insurance policies such as Medicare.
Manage electronic health records (EHR) systems including Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, and other EMR systems to ensure accurate documentation review and data entry.
Assist with medical coding tasks including CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding to support billing processes.
Maintain medical records with proper filing, documentation review, and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA policies.
Support clinical staff by preparing care plans and updating patient information within the office management system.
Perform clerical duties such as typing reports, data entry (including 10 key typing), filing, and managing health information management tasks efficiently.
Handle phone communication professionally, responding promptly to patient inquiries and appointment requests.
Ensure compliance with clinical confidentiality policies while managing sensitive patient information.

Requirements

Proven experience in a medical office environment or healthcare setting with clinic experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks.
Familiarity with medical billing procedures including medical collection processes and Medicare regulations.
Understanding of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding standards, and health insurance processes.
Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and electronic health records management software.
Exceptional customer service skills combined with professional phone etiquette and communication abilities.
Bilingual skills are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment while maintaining attention to detail.
Prior office experience in a healthcare setting or dental clinic experience is highly desirable.
Knowledge of clinical confidentiality policies and healthcare compliance standards such as HIPAA is essential.
